Palm Springs March 2025

We are booked to come again in mid March 2025 to see our son. 7 nights total - right now we have 4 nights booked in LA close to his apartment. I might extend this to 5.

So then we have 2 or 3 nights to explore other options... was thinking Palm Springs. Flight is at 2 pm out of LAX and we would drive back in that day.

We would def want to do a day in JTNP for hiking. Maybe go up to Mt Jacinto on the other day.

Dont want to stay in a giant resort - but do enjoy a lux hotel experience (just me and hubby - we are in our 50s). Would love hotels and restaurant recs. And anything else to consider?

As Im researching ....maybe PS isnt the way to go? Maybe staying closer to Joshua Tree to give ourselves more time in the park. Any thoughts on this?

Just me, but I'd rather stay in/near PS than JT, especially if it's only 2 nights. You can look at the dining and lodging options in JT, but I doubt you'll find anything considered "lux." I would definitely search lodging availability asap.

Just FYI, if your flight out of LAX is mid-week, the early morning drive from either PS or JT will be a slog. Give yourselves lots of time.
