Off the Wall, Part 2.5
Now that we've listed our favorite films, what is the worst movie you ever saw, and why? Extra bonus points for mentioning a bad film involving travel, and a few bonus points if you can describe the setting.
For me, the worst film ever made was Bonfire of the Vanities. Set in New York City. Casting of Tom Hanks and Bruce Willis was inexplicable. It looked as though they were trying to make the film really bad to be funny. And the book on which it was based was quite good. What a waste!

As a Jaws fan, I would say Jaws III was one of the very worst. Ok, a Great White eating swimmers I can buy. Maybe even at a stretch, I can see the one in Jaws II taking down a helicopter. The one in Jaws III was way too unbelievable, and the movie was just stupid period. I have not been able to make myself watch much of Part IV, but from what I hear it could be even worse (a shark out for revenge - give me a break).

Easy one - "Dancers In The Dark" currently playing in your local art theather. A woman going blind in a NW US bed pan factory (the stamping machine barely misses her hand constantly) is trying to same money for her brother to have an eye operation. Her friend the sheriff steals her money to fund his new bride and she shoots him to death. She recovers her money, gives it to the surgeon, and is arrested. And heads for execution, refusing all attempts at her defense. At odd times, she and a cast of 100 or so unknowns break out in long, toneless songs and wierd dance moves. It is a total barf!!! Friends in Paris who have a film club describe this as a "shit film."

A movie that still makes me a little woozy is Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs." It contains the single most bloodthirsty, sickening, worthless scene I have seen in a film. My husband walked away. I finished the movie so that I could state with certainty that the film was dreadful. The ending was quite dumb, too. It is set in New York, for what that's worth. Quite a disappointment, because I really liked Pulp Fiction.

Who knows why otherwise-normal, seemingly bright children take a liking to an "actor" so lacking in his ability to select a halfway-decent role:
1. The Waterboy
2. Billy Madison
No travel involved, unless you count my early flight from the theater (don't worry parents; I waited dutifully outside the door).

All the posts were quite good, especially Flick's. It's a darned shame that Wolfe's Bonefire of the Vanities was desecrated by those involved with the movie. Let me add that Kim Catrall, Bruce Willis and the dame who used to be married to Don Johnson (I'm showing my age-forgot her name) are three of the worst actors of all times. If I may add a lousy pic it would be The Swarm. It ends with a swarm of killer bees being enticed to go to some platform in the Gulf of Mexico, to be blown up by some governemtn agency. Childish drivel.
