How safe is Waikiki/Honolulu.And how easy is it to get around by motorcycle.

Very safe, just take the normal precautions you would at any tourist destination. We've been going there for about 30 years, and never a problem. Re motorcycles..my husband rented one there several years ago and it was fun riding around on that, don't recall any particular problem with that either.

As a resident of Oahu, Waikiki is pretty safe at night. There is a police sub-station located right on Waikiki Beach and they patrol constantly. Every city in the US has its problems and Oahu is no exception. Take care in not walking alone, or going down streets that don't look safe. I love this island, but its not perfect either. Were you planning on renting a motorcycle?, or a moped? Mopeds are great to get around with on surface streets, but I have to tell you, I've seen many visitors finding themselves on the freeway without warning and end up being stopped by the police. So please take care in doing that. I hope this info helps.

My husband I are coming Wakiki Feb 10 for 6 days. We are not going to rent a car but are going to rely on the bus. But we do want to rent a motorcycle for a day or two. Do we rent from a car rental place or do we go to a special place? Also can we rent helmets? Can't wait!!! I'm so excited!! Thanks for the info!
