Looking for a good lunch place b/t UN and Times Sq. Have two teenagers in tow! Also, dinner ideas around Ground Zero area - not too expensive. Ever heard of "Good" restaurant in Greenwich Village?

Roy's is good for teenagers and it is near the World Trade Center site.

The area between Times Square and the UN is vast. Could you narrow the area down a bit more?

You have Juniors (known for their deli-style sandwiches and cheeseckake), Oyster Bar, Michael Jordan's Steajhouse, Charlie Palmer's Metrazur and a lot more others.

We're taking a tour at UN late morning, and wanted to stop on the way back to T.S. for lunch, so anyplace in between would be fine. Also - what is the atmosphere in Grand Central Station? Is it like a mall fast food type? Or are there sit-down restaurants?

The food at Grand Central is set up like a mall food court, EXCEPT that the food is good and the atmosphere is nothing like a mall! There are lots of eating options there and most of them look yummy - I've only eaten at Juniors, which was really good. I love the Grand Central atmosphere - it's such a fabulous building!

There are a couple of suggestion I have for you. Docks is very close to where you will be and lunch there is wonderful. It is on 3rd Ave and 40th St, all seafood, but one of the best in the city.

If you like Tex/Mex, a little further down on 3rd and 37th is The Rio Grande, (wonderful margaritias there). You will find alot of other restaurants on 3rd as well depending on what suits you taste buds.

Good is on Greenwich Avenue and offers an excellent and very popular brunch -- I've been for brunch several times and it's worthy of its reputation.

You'll find it just south of 12th Street, near Bank St, near 7th Ave.

Not all dining establishment inGrand Central is mall-food atmosphere as a previous poster alluded to.

There are some where you point and choose and find a table to eat and chow, but the ones that I mentioned are all with formal wait staff and sit-are down establishments. Some are formal and expensive.

In spite of the busy commuter-filled location, Grand Central station is a beautiful building with a beuatiful interior and a treasured landmark in NYC.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions. We have been to Grand Central Station, but don't remember the restaurant area, so I don't know if we saw it or not, but I think we will give it a shot. Sounds like there are several possibilities and we can choose when we get there.

The fancier sit-down restaurants are mostly on the balconies overlooking the main hall.

On the lower level is a large food court, with many dining choices, a variety of good options for both teens and adults. You won't find McDonalds here. Grand Central has made a real effort to feature local businesses rather than national chains.

Also accessible from this level, the Oyster Bar. Be sure to try out the whispering corners just in front of its entrance.
