NON Family Hotel in Las Vegas

Hallo,

We (my girlfriend and I) are travelling to Las Vegas next may and need some Hotel tips.
I know that a lot of (new) places are family oriented. But we want a place that's not crowded with screaming children.
What are the good options? (Excalibur / MGM Grand / ???)

Please let me know !

Bert

Bellagio is the best choice.

Stay away from any place that has a kids program (i.e. Four Seasons) and/or has a nice pool area for kids (i.e. Mandalay Bay). Bellagio would be my first choice.

Hmm. I thought this was a troll posting, considering Bert asked about The Excalibur, whoich is the 2nd MOST family-oriented hotel after Circus Circus. Both of those places are ALWAYS overrun with kids, kids, kids.

Thanks for the replies;
It's our first trip to LV.
We are going to take a look at the Bellagio!
Are there alternatives in the MID price section, because Bellagio is not the cheapest Hotel in town ;-)

Thanks

Bert

Check the prices at the Stardust...it is a clean no frills hotel and attracts and older crowd....there is really nothing there for kids.

Depending on your age, The Palms is really hopping right now!

The Hard Rock and Palms are the best for singles but Bellagio really frowns upon kids.

Isn't the Palms location not so great? I know it is new, but don't you have to take a shuttle to the stip?? I think I would want a better location, for my first trip. Hard Rock looks great.

I used to live in Las Vegas and went back there for part of my honeymoon. We stayed at Mandalay Bay which did not seem that overrun with kids. If you want a really good value on the strip we did stay at the Barbary Coast for a few nights and it was not bad. The location is great as you can walk to Bally's, Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Flamingo Hilton to name a few. The room rate was under $100 and seems like a locals casino. Our room was big enough as the theme was San Fran from the old days with lots of wood and brass etc. The bathroom was very small (compared to Mandalay Bay) and there were basically no added amenities like a pool etc, but the room was clean and fine for the price. Plus you did not have to walk and hour to your room.. Here is there website if you want to check it out - http://www.barbarycoastcasino.com/hotel/index.html.

The two hotels most popular among 20's visitors are Hard Rock and Palms.
I would not recommend either for the first time visitor as they are both over a mile from the strip and that simply kills the whole Las Vegas strip and hotel-hopping atmosphere that makes Vegas fun and unique.
Sure you can take shuttles or drive, but as I said, that simply kills the fun of walking out of your room and out the door to the strip, back and forth whenever you want to.

Wasting time waiting for infrequent shuttles and 15-30 minutes getting a valet'd car or walking to and from the usually distant casino parking lots is apain and a big waste of time.

Vegas is Vegas mostly because of the strip.
Gotta stay there first time around.

Price wise, Paris and Aladdin are mid range and well located mid-strip.

Avoid Excalibur at all costs. A complete dump. And avoid the north strip (Stratosphere area, LV Hilton, etc).

The palms has a childcare facilty there, which the locals use and I have used for my kids. It is great. There aren't tons of strollers at the palms or anything but there will be some amount of kids there.
I would be curious to know what time of year you are going? In the summer ANY of the places you go that have a nice pool area will have kids. This includes MB which I thought resembled raging waters in the amount of children.
BC won't have nearly any as it is small and has no pool. I would say your best bets, not in this order are Bally's, Alladin and possibly depending on time of year Monte Carlo.
Bellagio is known to be not so kid friendly but then again their rates are far from mid range. Same would go for Venetian.

Bert states the month he is going is MAY. I think he is looking for something less expensive the Bellagio even though it is not as kid friendly. That is the problem. Families also are looking for cost efficient accomodations as well. They are more than likely on a budget. At least school is still in session in May. Most people will wait June rather than May to travel. You will still have those strollers to deal with. (the pre-schoolers!)

The Stardust is a dump. Try for Bellagio.

Riviera is a dump but VERY interesting, especially the pool scene. Mandalay Bay had no kids over Thanskgiving while the excalibur was overrun with them. New York New York is low on kids too. lets ban kids from Vegas NOW!

Vic provides some good reasons and recommendations; although Paris from my expereience can at times have its fair share of "families". Bally's next to Paris, offers mid-pricing and is among the lest "kid-populated" hotels albeit caters to a generally older clientle.
As a rule, Las Vegas, always is recreating itself, and right now, the trend is deemphasizing children at most hotel properties.

M. Bay is usually filled with kids because of its great pool area. Stay far from that place if you want to avoid kids.

Having just stayed at the Monte Carlo I would definitely give it a thumbs up in the NO KIDS category. We were surprised at just how many kids there WEREN'T.
The tram to the Bellagio is key to. If you want to eat dinner or shop there you're just a few minutes away.

Paris is nice too.

Where I wouldn't stay:
Excalibur
Flamingo
MGM(it's just too darn crowded for me anyway)
NYNY
