Randy, Check out the following website for information on ground and public transportation options from Newark if you decide not to take a cab.

Randy, Newark Airport to Times Square (Marriott Marquis Hotel to be exact), I paid about $45 when I was said and done. This was about a year ago. I think it was a set fee of $38 or so, plus tolls and tip.

Going back was more expensive, by about $10.

You're absolutely wrong on this one, Anthony. New Jersey cabs that you get at Newark if you wait on line have set fees, no meters.

NYC cabs that you take to Newark do not have a set fare, which may be what you're thinking of.

Randy--if you won't have a lot of luggage, I recommend looking into the AirTrain. It's about $12 and will take you right to Port Authority.

How long would it take to get from Times SQ to John F Kennedy Airport during a weekday morning around 7a.

karen, that sounds like a nightmare to me. there is always traffic going to jfk and that is rush hour. start out earlier or you will be sitting on a bridge in a cab biting your nails wondering if the plane will wait.

I hear you - but how much time will it most likely take to get there - 30 minutes? 1 hour?

My best guess---1 to 1.5 hours.

One poster said the Airtrain goes from EWR to the Port Authority. Not so - it goes to Penn Station.

A taxi Times Square to JFK with normal taffic conditions should take 45 minutes or possibly a few minutes less.

You can take the Olympia Bus Line from Newark Airport to Penn Station for $12.

I agree with "Bus" if you've got more luggage than a carryon bag. Those buses are the large "motorcoach" and get you adjacent to Penn Station at a reasonable price, and comfortable. Get a cab from there if you must. If you're traveling with only a carryon bag, then I prefer the train.

use airtrain, faster, cheaper, cleaner, no smelly pakistani cab driver (that would prefer to see you dead).

randy, are you kidding; just take the express bus right to 42nd st-grand central--it'll take an hour (less than a cab ride since they can ride on the bus lanes) and much cheaper- $15 tops! from there, just catch the shuttle train to time square ($1.50), or you can catch a cab, cross town, about $5 with tips.

good luck!
