Need ideas for 4 day trip to New York or Connecticut

My wife, 9-year old daughter and I are looking for somewhere to spend 3 or 4 nights in New York State or Connecticut that is less than a 4 hour drive from Northern New Jersey. We want to stay somewhere where there are towns to explore, good places to take walks, farmer's markets or farms to visit. Ideally we would stay somewhere with a pool and spend $200 or less per night.

We have spent a lot of time in Woodstock, NY area so we don't want to go there or New Paltz or Mohonk. We go to New York City all the time so don't want to go there.

Other ideas??

New York's Hudson valley is nice. City of Hudson. Easy drive to the Berkshires.

Fra_Diavolo,

I did see the answers to the earlier thread. I dropped Pennsylvania and tried to refocus my question this time.

SusieQQ where did you go in Finger Lakes?

I'd say the Finger Lakes. If you've spent time in Woodstock, I can't imagine you haven't driven over to the Hudson Valley, but if not, then that's my second choice for you.
