need help for BOSTON in April
Four of us will be in Boston from April 7th to the 12th. We want to go to a nice restaurant for a special birthday on Sunday and am interested in restaurant and night life for the week. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of fine restaurants in Boston. For restaurants and what's going on, see www.boston.com. For more on restaurants, see www.boston.citysearch.com or www.bostonmagazine.com.

Just went to No.9 Park last night, which is on the Common and would be a great place for a special meal. Excellent meal. There are many great places; some of my favorites include: Icarus in the South End (nouveau american); Mama Maria's (excellent italian food in an old mansion in the North End); Aquataine is supposed to be good (I haven't been there yet but will be going this Friday); the main dining room at the Four Seasons is also excellent, with a beautiful view of the Boston Public Gardens. Ask for a table near the windows when you book it. Celebrated my 40th birthday there and it was VERY special.
The Comedy Connection at Fanuiel Hall is fun at night.
Have a great visit.

Where "downtown" are you staying? Here in Boston, we don't really call a part of the city "Downtown". Are you staying in the Back Bay? The Financial District? Fanieul Hall area?
Also, what kind of nightlife are you looking for? Local music? jazz? Dance Clubs? bars to hang out in?
For local music, head over to Cambridge and check out TT The Bears, the Middle East, and Lily's. For jazz, check out the Good Life in Cambridge or in the Financial District. For clubs, head over to Landsdown St, adjacent to Fenway Park, or to the Alley, located off Boylston St near the intersection w/Tremont St. For bars, there are plenty in Faniuel Hall, or on Boylston St. in the Back Bay. A good resource to check out what is going on in Boston entertainment wise is www.bostonphoenix.com Hope this helps!
