Need anniversary weekend getaway ideas quickly!

Looking for a weekend getaway coming from the San Francisco area. It's our ten year anniversary and we really want something special. We aren't opposed to flying anywhere-as long as it's not too far. Considering: Cannon beach,OR, or Malahat B.C.,...we've done Vegas, San Diego..wanted something "refreshing".Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
Leaving soon...(Sept7-9)We wish we could have planned sooner, but we have three little ones and just convinced our parents to keep them!
We love Carmel, but we are looking for something new.. ditto with Napa- We have also done Mendicino - very pretty.

Budgetwise, anything up up $500/per night is fine..hey ten years is a long time! We might be looking too late anyway...just hoping.
Thank you!

I've heard good things about the Post Ranch Inn or even Ventana Inn at Big Sur.

Another possibility if you're willing to go this far: Ojai Valley Inn, Ojai.

CORDE DU VALLE IN SAN MARTIN. Outstanding golf, winery nearby and fantastic rooms with outdoor hot tubs. Cannot be beat and close enough to cruise to Monterey Peninsula for the day if you want to.

Congratulations on 10 years If you are still thinking Cannon Beach as a possibility - do check out the Stephanie Inn (adults only - very romantic and wonderful food) or the Ocean Lodge right next store. Can't go wrong with either. Best of luck!

Why not splurge in San Francisco on the hotel and dining versus flying somewhere?

Cambria/ San Simeon, Pismo Beach or Santa Barbara. The Big Sur idea is great also.

Also, ITA with the SF idea. I'm just an hour from the city, and we've done weekends there several times.

I luv, with just a weekend my thought would be a weekend in SF also and this is certainly a beautiful time of the year. We always had wonderful weekends in SF..close by..no flying or time lost driving for hours..a million and one activities..fantastic food etc. But perhaps you have spent so much time in SF that is not of interest and understandly so. When you say a weekend and than indicate three days imo going to OR, BC etc., doesn't seem to allow much time to spend at whereever you will go to however which is why I suggested SF.

I do wish you a very Happy 10th Anniversary. Congratulations.

The Montage Resort in Laguna Beach is amazing, we spent our 25th anniversary night there this past December.

If you decide on Cannon Beach, the Stephanie Inn would fit the bill here. It is oceanfront and they have the best restaurant in the area here. We have a beach cottage in Seaside, about 10 minutes from CB where we spend the majority of the summer, it's a very nice area to spend time in. Good luck and have fun with your travel research! ***kim***

luvtravel--Did you decide on a location yet?

Kim--The OP has several threads asking the same thing. Stephanie Inn was suggested on one already. Guess great minds think alike

Stephanie Inn gets lots of good press and recommendations .. I know local Portlander and Fodorite beachbum recommends it highly.

kimamom, you should try staying there too, on your next vacation to Oregon..

I am also a fan of the SurfSand..they allow dogs and have fireplaces in rooms that look out to the ocean..what more can you ask for ? LOL

OMG We stayed at the Surf and Sand like a million years ago when we lived in Portland briefly. I remember that it had amazing views from the balcony and a wonderful in-room fireplace. We had a great time there.

How about the Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay. Close to home and a great place, in fact we are going in January for our 29th. Also, Seascape in Aptos would be a nice quick weekend. We just stayed there. Get an ocean view end unit if you can.
