How Much Time in Natchez?

We will be visiting Natchez as a side trip from our stay in New Orleans. Please advise how much time we should plan on spending in Natchez if we want to enjoy the town without rushing from site to site. Thanks!

Two full days absolute minimum. Depending on how much you want to spend inside each house that could be toured, and how much you would like to eat at wonderful restaurants, this could be extended to four to five days.

If you like mysteries, read any of the books by Greg Illes that are based in Natchez

Please check out the Monmouth Plantation! It is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed! I felt like Scarlett! And please have dinner at the Plantation! It is back in time and beautiful and only seats 12-14 people! You have to make resevations, I definitely was Scarlett at that beautiful table!http://www.monmouthplantation.com/

Natchez is fabulous. Enjoy your time!

And if you can, save a little time for Port Gibson. Just a little upriver from Natchez, Port Gibson is a lovely little town with some interesting history.

At least 2 days. There are beautiful houses to tour and the people were very friendly.

To give you some idea of the things you might do in Natchez, check out the NatchezMS.com Attractions page, http://www.natchezms.com/attraction.htm. Natchez has a museum for the Natchez Indians, an historic old college once attended by Jefferson Davis and featured in the John Wayne movie, The Horse Soldiers, and of course, lots of shopping!
