MAUI
HI, MYSELF AND MY BOYFRIEND ARE TAKING OUR FIRST TRIP TO HAWAII. WE ARE GOING TO OAHU FOR 5 DAYS AND THEN MAUI FOR 5 DAYS. I AM LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON A NICE CALM BEACH. I SADLY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SWIM AND PREFER VERY CALM WATER WHEN I DO. ANY RECOMMENDATIONS? I KNOW THIS IS SURF CITY, BUT I FIGURED MAYBE THERE IS A CALM COVE OR LAGOON??

try Napali on Maui or Kapalua, they both given the right conditions, would be perfect...also check out Makena if the waters are calm. Good luck, maybe you'll learn to snorkle and swim while you're there!!! I recently watched a woman in a wheelchair carried to the ocean at the four seasons to try her hand at snorkling, so anything can happen if you have someone to support and help you!!! Good luck

the north side of the island has huge waves. The south side is protected more and has many small coves that offer calmer waters although i agree that the beach is for walking and the pool is for swimming! I will say that the water temp. in maui was great . aloha!
