It open on June 24 two years ago. We were surprised to be one of the first past the barricades. The gift shop wasn't open yet - workers were still stocking. Hard to imagine that much snow in later June.

Maybe someday we will be there at the right time.
In November 2005 we drove up to the gate at Lake McDonald on the west side.
On June 1, we drove up to the closed gate 17 miles up from the St. Mary east gate. We were told that we could have walked up about a mile from the gate to see more snow.
