Kid Friendly, Warm Beach in November (within a 3 hour flight of Minneapolis)

We are looking for a place for a family vacation this February. We have 2 young (3 and 1) kids, so it needs to be family friendly. We would also like to minimize the travel involved..... i.e going to a nice place on a direct flight would be preferable to going to paridise but connect twice.

I think that, of the places that would be warm in February, we are left with the southern Gulf Coast of Florida, or the Cancun area. Am I missing other obvious desitnations that I should be looking at?

Oh yeah, as for as $$... We can afford decent accomodations (up to $250 / night for the right place) but we obviously would like to find a reasonable deal somewhere.

Go with Mexico. South Florida can still get chilly in February.

Try not to travel President's Week.

Go south of Cancun, along the Riviera Maya--beaches and resorts are in great shape, you can spend way less than your $250 (maybe a nice condo?), and there are tons of things to do, even for kids that age (try Crococun!).

The gulf coast can be cold in February.

If you are going to add the extra distance to go to Mexico making it a 5 hour flight, you might want to think about Hawaii.

Non-stop flights are about 8 hours and you are guarunteed warm beaches.

Thanks for the suggestions. We'll start looking into Cancun. MSP - Cancun in actually a 4-hour flight, half of what it would be flying to Hawaii. Those 4 saved hours make all the difference int the world to us.
