How is the sking at Keystone compared to near by resorts (Copper, Breckenridge, etc)? I found a great deal on-line but have read that it does not seem to get nearly the same amount of snow fall as its neighboring resorts. Since we're all novice to weak intermediate skiers, that is consideration/question as well (how is it compared to the others mentioned?) As always, your knowledge and assistance is appreciated.

skied there last year...sorry...thought it sucked! trails arent well marked and if you are w/novice skiers, they will end up where they don't want to be...its just laid out weird. and took about a ton of ptek to do the base repair...of the others you mentioned, i prefer copper...but to each their own..keep us posted

dcp, I ski Keystone allot. Have a place there. Skied Keystone last weekend and the snow was surprisingly good! We have had more snow this week so should be even better. You’re correct that at your level it really does not matter. You are going to be on groomed trails so as long as the rocks are covered the depth does not matter.

I do not think it is hard to get around at all. You will want to ski the front Mtn. Spring Dipper is a great run for you. On North Peak for the more advanced skiers try Anticipation. Sing it while you ski it!

The one suggestion I have is NOT to try to ski to River Run area, go to the Mountain House base. The final descent to River Run is fairly steep with lots of skiers lacking the skills for the pitch.

IMO Breck would not be a good choice because of that too. Lots of skiers skiing outta control. Scary place. Another negative for Breck is the wind and cold.

I've always heard good things about Keystone but not sure of its intermediate slope quality.

We just returned from a week at Keystone. I myself would be a "weak intermediate". I found conditions to be great; the resort was not at all crowded so there were little to no waits at life lines. The SchoolMarm run is 3.5 miles, the longest green anywhere. It also has many "offshoots" which can be green or blue, depending on your preference. I also enjoyed the "bunny" runs: Scout and Endeavor, both at the top of the mountain. I liked that the easiest runs weren't relegated to the bottom of the mountain. Another one I wanted to try (a friend of mine loved it) was Foxtrot; you had to take yet another gondola to get to it.
