Key West question

I have two questions about Key West:

I know that August is very hot and humid in Florida but does it rain a lot too? When is hurricane season? September?

Has anyone stayed at La Concha Crowne Plaza in Key West? If so, how was it and is it close to the main attractions (I don't want to rent a car). Thanks for your help! Any info. would be appreciated.

Key West is like lots of places in Florida. During August there may be a daily shower, but probably not much more. Hurricane season lasts until the end of November, so there's always a possibility of a bad storm. La Concha is in a great location within easy walking distance of everything. It's a very old hotel that was recently renovated. The only disadvantage may be that the rooms are small.

I used to always go to the Keys in August. August 1 is the start of Lobster Season. It IS hot and humid. Susan's right - when it rains, it normally doesn't last long. Normally. And yes, August is in Hurrican Season. But don't let that deter you.
Have fun.

Thanks for your replies! My sister and I (both late 20s) are trying to decide on our August vacation plans. We want to go somewhere relaxing/tropical but with a fun nightlife. Does Key West fit that description?

Oh my gosh, does it ever fit your description! Key West has something for everyone. We go to relax and be free of responsibility, but if you're interested in nightlife it's perfect, too. I might add that I have a friend in Key West now who says the temperature was 91 yesterday, which is VERY hot considering the high humidity. If you can stand the weather, you'll absolutely love everything else.
