Key West hotel under $200/night? Advice please
On short notice I'm trying to plan a five or six night winter break getaway to Key West for our family of four (2 kids, ages 17 and 12). Dates, sometime around 12/26 through 1/2.
This will be our first time in Key West. Looking for a nice, reasonably priced hotel near Duval. Any advice?

I am afraid you might be out of luck. I am not positive but I don't think there is such a thing as indoor pools in Key West. I guess because the weather is fairly nice year round.
I also understand Christmas week is one of the busiest weeks there so you might have to spend a bit more to get what you want or find something less expensive in one of the other Keys.
You also might want to try Priceline.com.

I'm afraid you may be out of luck, too. We were in Key West for New Year's Eve several years ago and ended up paying $400 a night at the Hyatt...probably twice the normal rate at that time.
You might check out keywest.com or keywestinns.com (the Key West Innkeeper's Association) for further info on accommodations. Ditto what Suzie says about indoor pools. I'm pretty sure there are none in Key West.

The only place I can think of would be the Southernmost and I don't know if they are under $200. Have you tried the Quality Inn/Comfort Inn?
Call the rental agencies in Key West. This late, most people have made their reservations already. Any condos that are left on the market may have some negotiation available. At Home In Key West is always a great place to start.
The priceline suggestion is always good but you take a chance with four people in a room. Again, because it is late, you may get a deal. Good luck and post your results!

I posted on your other thread. Finding something close to Duval in that price range will be difficult because of the Holiday. Some suggestions outside of Old Town: Sheraton Suites, Best Western Key Ambassador and the Fairfield Inn. The Fairfield Inn has suites across from their hotel on Roosevelt which are fairly new.

Finding a hotel during that time for under 200/night is very slim. Avg price is around 400-700/night. Thou, Ive noticed come jan 1-2 the rates drop back to normal. Maybe you wanna postpone your trip a week or consider staying further up the road. The Ramada in Marathon is open for around 179.99 a night. Do a search on hotels.com

I checked the Best Western Key Ambassador's website and they have rooms for $149 a night. Location isn't that great, but what the heck. The Days Inn in KW is $119 on Expedia. I would check directly with the hotels instead of their 800#, quikbook.com, expedia, travelocity, hotwire as well as the hotel websites. Priceline may be your best bet to get something nice. Another thought is to stay in Islamorada for a couple of days and then go down to Key West for a few days. Try the Hampton Inn in Islamorada. Good luck and let us know if you find anything.

Stayed in the Best Western Key Ambassador last fall and it was a decent hotel, with a pretty good continental breakfast, however they have an outdoor pool. The parking was free, and it was on N. Roosevelt, about 5 min from when you first enter Key West, but only about 10 min from Mallory Square and Duval Streets. If you can get a deal there for under $200, take it.
