Key West downtown lodging?
We usually use Priceline for hotels, but the only properties that come up in Key West are located away from town (e.g., Embassy Suites). We'd like to be walking distance to the Duval Street area.
So... seek suggestions for reasonably priced lodging in downtown Key West. A B/B would be great, but not sure we can find one in our price range.
There are many specials running now, so if you've stayed in a B/B or hotel in town for under $100/night, please tell me about it. Thanks for any help.

There are a number of places to stay in the heart of Key West, although some may be a little off Duval. There are numerous B&Bs. I like the Eaton Lodge, although I think their rooms start at $125/nt. Do a search on this site. There have been MANY discussions of where to stay in Key West. Also, check out www.keywest.com. Have fun.

High season in Key West starts in late fall and runs until spring, so you'll have to pay more if you're going during that time. And for all the reasons you might imagine, Old Town is more expensive than New Town. For a number of accommodation options, check out keywestparadise.com

Try one of the "Porchside" rooms at Jasmine House. It's a very small guest house (only 4 or 5 rooms) a block off Duval - very quiet, clean and nicely decorated. I stayed there a few years ago and am staying there again in December. You can definitely get a room for $80 or $90 per night.

We stayed at Papa's Hideaway, a five room guest house 2 blocks from Duval, for $99/night. It is on the south end of the Key, a bit more of a walk to Mallory Square. It was very private, with a nice pool, hot tub, and garden area where they served breakfast.
I booked through the Key West Innkeeper's Association - not sure of the website, but you could do a search. If you tell them your price range and what you want in a room, they can tell you what's available among thier member inns. I found them very helpful.

We were in Key West just last week, and stayed at both La Pensione (has a great wrap around balcony that upstairs rooms have access to) and the Mermaid and the Alligator (we stayed in the cottage, not in the main house), both on Truman Avenue, about 2 blocks from Duval. We liked the location, a little more quiet than Duval, but still centrally located. Both have (small)pools and serve breakfast, and have a helpful staff. Our rates were $98 and $89, but it was during the week and during off season. This was our first time in a B&B, and we truly enjoyed it. Just more quaint and intimate than a resort. Two things to keep in mind- not all rooms have private baths, but rates are lower for those that don't. And not all B&Bs have off-street parking, so if you have a car that might be an issue for you. Best of luck and hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did!

Stayed at Whispers B&B in October for $90 a night. Great place. Go to Keywest Innkeepers Association website, as mentioned up above, to get websites for the B&B's. E-mail or call the B&B to see what kind of specials they have. We always do this when picking a place in KW. They almost always come down in price if you ask them, in my experience anyway.

Check out oberry.com (office located in Key West) They have some different options.
The Eaton Manor was just recently $79 a night in early Oct. Not sure how much more it is now. Can get to their link on www.keywestparadise.com
If I can remember the name of the little place we found off Duval on Caroline Street, I'll post. It was adorable, very Key West. Wish I had more than one night there!
