You are traveling peak season and hotels in Key West will be very expensive. Have you tried Hotwire? You my find something under $200 per night.

The Southernmost Hotel is nice and the El Patio is reasonable.

Here is a link to the Ambrosia. We have had friends stay here and really liked it.

We had actually booked it, but had to cancel our plans unexpectedly. Hope to rebook our trip in the near future and will be staying here when we do.

I've stayed in Key West twice and I would definitely recommend a cute Bed & Breakfast over a hotel. Key West has tons of quaint B&Bs that are very reasonably priced. They are usually out of the way on residential streets so they're pretty quiet. Most of them are also walking distance from the main downtown area. Last time I was there I stayed at the Avalon.

Here's a link to some B&Bs.

I'd also recommend taking the trolley tour. You can see all of the island that way and the tour guides are extremely nice and informative.

For dinner you definitely have to check out Louie's Backyard. It's very romantic and the food is terrific.

Check out the Chelsea House website... we found it to be reasonably priced with great location in Old Town...

You can find coupons for 1 or more dollars off for the Hemingway House in the "See Key West" Magazine which is available at the airport or in those little dispensers on the streets. It has a map and several suggestions about what to do.

If you go to the Hemingway House don't believe that stuff about cats or the pool or the urinal that they tell you. Cute stories, but just that.

March is spring break season. Most FL college students are in Key West this time of the year. The hotels are pretty packed and the nightlife is really loud!
