If your from Charlotte (or nearby) raise your hand!
Okay I admit it...I'm just being nosey. I'm just curious how many people on this board are from Charlotte and/or the surrounding areas? I moved here about a year ago from St. Louis and I think I "knew" just about every St. Louisan on this board - but I only "know" of a few fellow Charlottean (is that a word?) fodorites. Now granted I don't hang around the US board very often, but how many of us are there?

Faina, I have admit that I'm tempted and a wee bit jealous by those fodorites who have managed to meet each other in person! You've been to a lot of GTG's...perhaps you can come on over to Charlotte for another?!

there are several in Charlotte, Bankbabe, SAnParis (aka Brutforce), Gretchen and Brian in Charlotte come to mind immediately. I am about two hours away in Pinnacle. Still in the neighborhood.....

LOL Faina...you know, I have always wanted to visit New Mexico! Alas flights from Charlotte to just about anywhere in the US seem so ridiculous expensive that I could head on over to Europe for practically the same price! But maybe one of these days....

I have lived in Charlotte for almost 30 years. I grew up all over the Northeast, but went to college in Belmont and ended up just staying here because I love it so much. My DH is a born and bred Charlottean, so I don't think we will ever move. We live in Plaza Midwood.

My in-laws lived in Matthews in the late 1980s when FiL was building the Charlotte Coliseum for the Hornets. Even though my in-laws were over 60, the house in Matthews was the first they'd ever owned.
What is the neighborhood of Charlotte that has those wonderful older homes? We visited people at one of them.
I still remember the wonderful Christmas Eve service at the lovely Little Church n the Lane.

I am in Hickory, NC about 1 hour north/west.
BUT have to come to Charlotte for regular big city fixes for dining and shopping!
Can't wait to get off this travel restriction when the baby arrives and hit up South Park for my specialty items!

We (my SO, who is originally from St. Louis, but who has been in Charlotte for 11 years) live in Plaza-Midwood, but before that we lived in uptown... I'm from North Carolina originally, but have been in Charlotte 3 years now... it's such a great city!
