Ideas for Presidents weekend in US with kids

Help! We want to go away somewhere warm and sunny, with a good beach and nice pool. Would the Florida Panhandle area be warm enough at this time of year?. Other ideas were San Diego or Scottsdale, or possibly Mexico. A separate bedroom for the kids would be preferable if anyone has any accommodation advice. We will be flying out of New York. Thanks in advance to all...

The Panhandle will be chilly in Feb. Have you thought about going to the Bahamas? You can get deals on getaways either to Paradise Island or the Cable Beach Resorts on Nassau.

You might want to look at a good map for this project, as the Florida panhandle is farther south than San Diego, but neither is particularly warm in February. No place in the US is very warm (ie, 75 or more) in Feb except southern Florida (Miami) or maybe So Calif desert (Palm Springs). Phoenix would probably be the best of your choices, maybe around 70. I'd go to Caribbean or Mexico unless that is too expensive for you; if so, I'd go to Fort Lauderdale or something.

fiona, i hope money is not much of an issue for you, b/c flying out of any of the NY airports during presidents week to anywhere warm will be very expensive at this point. not to mention that things get booked up very early and at this late date will be hard to find.
maybe try a cruise line? they usually try to get rid of empty cabins as travel dates get closer.

I don't think even Palm Springs is reliable in February except for golfing. If you don't need the beach, maybe something historic like D.C. or Williamsburg might be fun. Short of that, Hawaii or the Carribean or Cancun (yuck!)
