How is Universal???

How is Universal Studios - Hollywood? Is it as good as Univeral - Orlando? Is it very crowded on a weekday in the summer?

Don't know anything about Universal in Florida...as it wasn't yet built the last time I visited. Universal Hollywood is pretty interesting and can be fun. The chance of seeing a celebrity moving between sets is greater at the LA location than Florida.

During the summer in LA....the park and Citywalk are PACKED!!!

My family & I have been to both. Universal-Orlando wins hands down, no contest. Universal-Hollywood is compact, very crowded, and all concrete.
If you've been to Universal-Orlando skip the one in Hollywood. Ditto for Disneyland in Anaheim.

I disagree with the previous post about Universal. I too have been to both and wouldn't just skip Hollywood. In addition to rides it also has a studio tram tour and City Walk there is more developed than in FL.

Now Disney on the other hand -- he's right -- NO comparison to FL!

I first visited Universal Studios Hollywood (1989) then Florida (1992). Although Florida seemed to be layed out over a greater space, Hollywood issued a ticket when we first arrived that contained a time for a tram tour. The tram takes you through all of the major exhibits. Hence, no standing in line for an hour + numerous times in the day. I chose Universal Studios Florida over Disney MGM for the "one-wait" reason and was sadly disappointed.
Good Luck.

We have been to Universal Studios - Hollywood a number of times. The last time being in late June 1998, we were there on a Friday. If you get there right when it opens, crowds are not a big problem yet. We usually do the tram ride first or the Back to the Future ride, you get right on at that time. Then we go to the lower lot, for the E.T. ride, & the jurassic park ride. Last year when we went, we went on the Jurrasic Park ride 3 times in a row, with less than a 5 minute wait each time. Don't know if that was unusual, but the no wait was great. Then went to the shows at the lower lot. Then in the afternoon we go back to the upper lot to see the shows up there. If you time it right, you usually can see them all in an afternoon. Haven't been to the Florida one, but I really like the CA one. Remember, CA is the original one with more history behind it, & if you are more interested in seeing where some of the older classic were made, that is the place to go. Even if they have the Jaws thing in Florida, it was actually filmed in the CA studio.

I thought the Universal Studios tour in CA was enjoyable if you like being herded around like cattle to see meaningless exhibits. Save your time and your money.

I have been to both Universal Ca. and Universal Fla. and I enjoy the Ca. one just as much as Fla. - if not more. Also much more of a chance of really seeing something in production. I also feel Disneyland Ca. has a few things that I like better than Fla. The Fla. parks can just get too big!!!
