How is Beau Rivage Casio & beach

Planning a girls graduation trip 1st of May. Can anyone give me info on Beau Rivage Casino? Are the very big, can 4 stay in one room? Is the are safe? How are the local beaches? Are they nice or muddy? We are trying to decide whether to stay here and gamble or go further east to a nicer beach. We are interested in the casio but will probably only be there in the evening.

The Beau Rivage is beautiful, but the beach isn't. If a beach is at all important to you, you should consider getting closer to Alabama.

The corner rooms at the Beau Rivage are great: they're bigger than the others and have views of the town AND the Gulf. However, I've only seen king beds in those, so I'm not sure if they have any with double beds.

I'm a Chicagoan and know little of beaches, and much more about snow, but I found that the Biloxi area had blocks and blocks of nice beach to walk, sunbath etc. while I was there last year. It's not terribly adjacent to the Beau Ravage but you could walk or drive. Driving / parking were no problem and nothing looked muddy to me.

Of course, they weren't like Clearwater or Sarasota, narrower and a bit darker, but to me they were not all that different.

While I was at the Beau Ravage they were remodeling the casino floor. I remember one morning I took a walk to the old section of downtown Biloxi (not more than 3 blocks from B. Ravage inland) and the gardens there etc. They are behind Mary Mahoney's. This was very nice, historical, and almost totally overlooked by almost all tourists, as far as I could see. I meet some locals there that were replanting some sections (Garden Club) and this is a beautiful spot to stroll am or pm. Mary Mahoney's building goes back to when the French owned this neck of the woods.

What I remember about the B.Ravage most vividly is that I was playing one morning very early when they replaced all the potted plants and they had literally hundreds of hydrangeas (purple) in some spots. The effect was breath-taking. Nice variety of slots, good tables, and they have great comps.

The Beau Rivage is one of our favorite casinos to visit in the Biloxi-Gulfport area. However, the pool (and spa) are easier to use than the beach. You will have to travel a bit to get to useable beach, which are very pretty. A note about the idea of going further east to the gorgeous beaches of Alabama. Hurricane Ivan hammered that area pretty hard. Although the beaches are open, alot of the hotels/condos are not (but more opening each week). I've also heard that there is debris embedded in the sand, so care is needed, and definitly no bare feet. The area in the Destin, Seaside area of Florida is about the nearest area unaffected by the hurricane.

The Beau Rivage is a great casino to visit. In my opinion, it is probably the most beautiful casino in Biloxi.

As for the beaches in Biloxi, they are not the white sand and blue water of Florida. HOWEVER, if you want to stay in Biloxi for the great gambling, food, and fun (don't miss the Walter Anderson Museum in adjacent Ocean Springs - tons of cool prints and memorabilia for sale, and lots of cool Ocean Springs boutique shopping, too), but still want the white sand and blue waters of Florida, take the short ferry ride out to Ship Island. You can stay there all day, sunning yourself, and get a picnic-style lunch at the little convenience store they have out on the island. White sand, blue water. If you didn't know any better, you'd think you were in Flordia (minus the crowds). Take plenty of sunscreen, though. The ferry doesn't run all day, so you'll be spending the better part of a morning/afternoon out there.

Another vote for the Beau. We enjoy out time there. You can probably get a room with two beds if you request it.
A show patterned after the Cirque shows is appearing there through June , I believe. It is well worth seeing. Also there is a trolly tour of the old city and a museum with costumes from the Madri Gras. The beach area around the Beau is not that pretty , but there is a beautiful area further up the road with ample parking.

I second the motion of going to Ship Island; the beach and water there is comparable to Florida. Any of the beaches along the Ms Gulf Coast are good for sunbathing, but not the best for swimming. Ship Island is the way to go. By the way, the Beau Rivage is probably the most beautiful casino here; at least until the new Hard Rock opens to give it a run for its money.

We love going to the Beau Rivage. You should check into the shows--usually much cheaper than Vegas, but definitely of the Vegas caliber. The double rooms were very spacious, easily accommodating 4. The pool area is very nice, but the only beach adjoining the Beau is under the exit ramp, however it's still a lovely area to take a stroll along the beach. Hop in the car and drive a few minutes to the area where the beach widens for swimming and sun bathing. Lots of history in the area, and it's a really nice drive up and down the beach road looking at the old antebellum mansions and beach houses along the way. Enjoy!

Re: Ship Island

Beautiful white beaches and clear water, but it can be a long day if you don't bring something to create some shade in case you need a break from the sun (umbrella, etc). Also, bring lots and lots of sunscreen--Ship Island sunburns are quite well known in the area! ;-) Also, pack an ice chest with water/drinks, lunch, snacks, etc. If you want a great beach to work on a tan, then Ship Island is the place to go in Mississippi!
