Hotel help needed
I am planning my first trip to New Orleans the second week in December and wanted to stay at a smaller more charming hotel that was also reasonably priced. I began looking into this and found two that were running specials for the time frame that I was to be in NOLA. The first is Chateau Motor House which is offering an oversized king bed and a room with a balcony overlooking the courthouse and pool. My second choice is Le Richelieu in the French Quarter which is offering a standard room with a queen bed and no guarantee about a balcony (50/50 chance of getting one they say). Both seem to have locations which are close to everything, yet quiet. Both are about the same price--$350.00 total for the four nights I am staying. Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels who can give me some feedback and help me decide where I should stay? Thank you.

I have been to NO several times. The Prytania Hotel on St. Charles is small, offers free parking and reasonably priced. There is a new Ramada & Hampton Inn on St. Charles also. In the French Qtrs., I stayed at the Monteleon. Great place to visit - lived there 2 yrs.

I've not stayed at either place, but friends of mine have stayed at Le Richelieu when in town visiting and thought it was a great place. The location is nice, and I believe.. (hope I'm not lying) that they offer FREE parking - nearly unheard of down here! I've not heard anything about the Chateau Motor Lodge but I think it's close to Le Richelieu. Either place sounds like a good choice with the rate you've been quoted.

HI.
Don't stay at Historic French Market Inn whatever you do. REad my posts from lastweek. Heading's entitled
feedback - new orleans hotels.
John and S.Smith, et al have all been very helpful steering me in the right direction.
I've stayed at Le Richelieu 10 years back. Consistenly gets good reviews.
It's a nice place. Charming is the word.
We did have a balcony, and furnished most pleasantly. Check out the web-site for Hotel Provincial. Nice looking antiques; similar price as Richelieu.
Chateau Motor is about a block away
from Richelieu; they're in the similar area. I've read some good stuff about the Chateau Motor Hotel. They quoted me
a decent rate for April. However, I'm
staying at Provincial In April. Can't
wait.
