I'm a new yorker, and I feel like you're totally respectful, and I appreciate the fact that you don't want to leave new york without bearing witness to the site of the trade center. one thing i would say--try also have a meal down there, or in chinatown. those neighborhoods really need the help they can get. also, i would suggest going to st. vincents hospital. there's a memorial wall of many of the missing posters that plastered the city. i understand the need to see this for yourself. try also to see some less well-endowed theater while you are here. the soho rep is in tribeca, they have an excellent play up now called {sic} and they are in serious financial straits post 9/11.
