I'm going to stay at the GW Maui for my honeymoon this fall. I really haven't seen any postings on it and was wondering if anybody had any opinions on the resort.

Anything will be appreciated!

In my opinion, its one of the most beautiful hotels anywhere. From the drive as you enter their grounds until you enter the lobby, its just breath taking. And then the pool area and beach are unmatched anywhere. The only down side(for some) is the fantastic family pool area, because it is so great(waterslide, water elevator, etc) there will be lots of kids BUT they have an adult only pool area that is away from the bustle. But trust me, lotsa kids or not, if you have any adventure in you at all, you'll love the pool area. All in all, we think its one of the greatest places for younger people to stay in the world. But, if you are looking for total serene atmosphere opt for next door at the Four Seasons.

I love this resort, too, but to say that the beach is "unmatched" anywhere is pure poppycock!!!

I just stayed at the Four Season Maui in Feb. The 4S is next to the GW. I have to say that although the grounds at GW are very beautiful, it has a very busy atmosphere due to the large pool area. In my opinion, the 4S is a nicer hotel, has a better beach and is much much quieter than the GW. Further, the service at 4s is impeccable, worth every penny spent. The pool at the 4S may be small when compared to GW, but we really loved it.

Bob, I meant the pool AND beach area(together) are unmatched. And I do believe that you would be hard pressed to find a better combination anywhere.

Rick:

Beautiful place but we thought it was kind of a zoo. Lawn chairs were 4 and five deep by the pool, the beach was crowded. Maybe it was the time of the year (spring break-ish). It is absolutley gorgeous but reminded us of a big vegas hotel...
