Rant: The fudgies (and I say this endearingly :) have arrived.
Rave: Our weather has been fabulous and the forecast for the holiday weekend is fabulous too! Rant: My bike is in the shop :( Rave: My Air Force daughter is home for her first 4th of July since she joined up 4 years ago!!! |
Gekko, if you have a problem with a post, send an email to [email protected] and let the owners of the site determine what stays here. Complaining to us is meaningless, because we all have the same amount of control over this website (that is we have none).
Rave: Visiting my brother and sil for the weekend. Rant: Hot and humid. Weeds growing like gangbusters and I don't want to go out in this weather and pull them. Rave: Hummingbirds! I have a Rose of Sharon bush/tree that attacts them. It's fun to watch the hummingbirds flit and fly about. |
Glad to hear the good news on your DH, CAPH. You've been in my thoughts.
|
Thanks, Statia!
Enjoy the rest of the visit with your DH's daughter (Statia, Jr.?!)! BTW, I checked out your link last week for your island. Wow! I envy you! |
Rave: To my Fodorite buddy jor on the FFR&R!
Rant: I tried to watch Hit Me Baby One More Time and it was too boring! Rave: I'm loving that silly dance reality show on NBC. It makes Mr.GoTravel insane when I watch! AHaugeto: A HUGE congrats to you! Margot: So sorry! I lost my beloved Siamese the week of Christmas to a long illness. The next day I adopted my new Kitty-Kitty and she healed my heart. Then, she stole my heart. bamakelly: Way to go! Congrats to y'all! patricco: I'm also waiting on Nip/Tuck. What's the deal? They usually start in June. Happy Fourth y'all! |
Happy Friday and long weekend, everyone!
RAVE: We've rented (and watched about 1/2) of the 1st season of Sopranos...GREAT show! RAVE: Going to a movie this weekend for the first time since before my daughter was born: about 17 months! RAVE: Tom Cruise. Why? Entertainment factor...what a LOON! Too many other raves... One RANT: My sweet and joyful child has recently taken on a completely different personality-fussing/crying at every little thing, etc etc. ITs VERY trying and more than a little disheartening. Which leads to one more huge RAVE: I'm having many margaritas tonight! |
Scarlett, thanks for your comments! I too think it will be as good as it looks:D
I saw you're moving from Fla - missed the scoop while we were away but I wanted to wish you the best of luck with finding a new hope and lots of luck=D> |
Decepedes, thanks. I'm psyched about the fountain.
GoT, Nip-Tuck got postponed for unknown reasons to Sept. Just saw that the DVD for Season 2 will be released in late Aug. which is exactly what they did for Season 1 before Season 2 aired on TV. I really enjoyed N/T as a summer season show though. Did you see, Julian is in "Fantastic Four"? I had been watching "hit me baby..." usually while cooking dinner. Not actually sitting in front of the TV for the whole show. |
CAPH--I keep forgetting to tell you about a free website you could use to update family/friends throughout your husband's treatments...caringbridge.org I learned about it through a student who recently had a bone marrow transplant. Her mom updates it regularly and it's awesome b/c we know what's going on w/o her repeating the same news a million times.
Glad the meds are killing the bad cells! YOu guys continue to be in my thoughts and prayers! OWJ |
Agree with the rants vs. Supreme Court decision. It used to be the govt. could only take your property for a public need. Now it can take it for a perceived public benefit (i.e. increase tax base).
Big Rave: Brooke Shields---Is Tom Cruise on something? Bigger Rave: Many of us don't agree with the direction of our country right now especially with regard to our overseas inquisition, regardless, it is still the greates country on the face of the earth. Happy 4th! |
Ultimate Rave: Same-sex marriage is law in Spain! Good for them! Adding them to my list of countries to revisit in the future.
Viva Espana! |
GoTravel, I appreciate it.
Hit Me Baby One More Time is truly a bore. To all who have lost pets, I know what it is like. I have lost three dogs in the past twenty years. They were all great friends. My present dog is a total joy, a big screw ball, makes me mad a lot of the time, and I love him! |
CAPH52, thanks for the good thought. As it happens, I paid the local MasterGeek double to fix my desktop today, not the end of next week; and it turned out to be a dead powersupply. Coulda been worse -- so that's a mini-rave.
And I had a week in May that was nothing but RAVES because we were heading to Italy, so things even out. :-D Ani, your little one is either teething, coming down with something, or about to acquire a major new skill (crawling, walking, etc.). For some reason, kids get very fussy just before they pass a milestone of some sort -- I think they build up frustration NOT being able to do something, and then they do it and are happy and excited with the new ability. (Let me know.) Best wishes to all battling medical challenges. SIL just diagnosed with ovarian cancer, just like older SIL, who died of it a few years ago. Fortunately, they seem to have caught it much earlier; unfortunately, it's not a cheerful diagnosis. And I'm pleased to note people on both ends of the political spectrum horrified by the Supremes' action on private property seizure. Logical extension: WalMart gets town to seize KMart land because it gets better profits so, ostensibly, could pay more taxes? Frightening. Happy Fourth!!!! **== |
OWJ, thanks for telling me about that website. Will definitely check it out!
|
OWJ--Exciting news! Crossing fingers and toe sfor you!
Bamakelly--A new home, how fun! Caph52--SO glad to hear you have some good news. Been thinking about you all week. AHaugeto--A HUGE congrats to you! dmkujat--Enjoy your time with your DD, and please tell her thank you:) Cassandra--Sorry to hear about your SIL. Rant/Rave--A player was seriously hurt at football camp today, but the spirit of all the boys and families there was so touching. It was so nice to see young boys have such sincere concern for their fellow teammates. |
Rave: Made the (cannonball) fireworks run to Vancouver, WA for some of the "good stuff". With all the two and three-for-ones I thought I was getting a great deal. Until the checkout stand...
Rant: Cancer... at any age, but especially in kids. Here's hoping that in spite of, but because of, those dealing with it experience a strenghening of relationships with loved ones. Peace to you all. Rave2: Apparent overwhelming consensus on both sides of the aisle apposing the Supreme Court's property rights position. And not to make this political, but pay attention to who voted for and who voted against it. |
Cassandra:
You've hit the nail...she took her first 2 steps yesterday, in fact, and is desperately trying to do it again. Its good to know about the personality change during these times. At least there is a reason (and good god lets hope its a temporary one) for the "fussiness".;) Thanks! |
Rant: The Supreme Court eminent domain decision. Glad to see the agreement here from people across the political spectrum.
Rave: We sold our Nissan Maxima and got a Toyota Sienna - plenty of room for the four of us, room for dd and future son-in-law next time they visit, and room for Daisy Dog who is looking more and more like she'll be large when she grows up! Warning/Rant: Never take a salvage car even if you inherit it from your mil. Mini-Rave: OTOH, it was handy for a few months after our other minivan was basically on its last legs. Congratulations to AHaugeto and everyone else celebrating this weekend, and my prayers are with you, margot55, and the others suffering loss and hard times. Lee Ann |
Rave: All the beautiful and thoughtful people here on Fodor's that have given me support and care during the month of June. You will never know how much you touched my heart and you truly did help me.
Rant: The Supreme Court decision regarding private property rights. Believe this is a decision we all are appalled about regardless of our political thoughts. Rave: To Jorr for posting FFR&R's every Friday. Thank you Jor, count me amoung so many that truly appreciate your thread. Rant: So many friends of mine with truly terrible problems, two with cancer, one with "something" but she will not say what, a friend in Virginia who had a deer hit her car and she can hardly move as she is black and blue from head to toe, a friend in Arizona in the wildfire path. Rave: They are all such strong and positive women I am in awe of them. Rant: What my dear SIL and daughter had to go through in Rome the month of June. Rave: They are home! And they too are so strong, they amaze me. Rant: The traffic problems in CA especially on I-80 in N CA and the politicians that take the gasoline tax money and put in into the general fund instead of using it for the road repair/ transporation system as they are suppose to. To everyone that is suffering with health problems or that have loved ones that are I send my prayers and good thoughts that the final results will be nothing but good news. To those that have lost their beloved pets I send my sympathies. How fortunate your little companions were to have you. To those looking for new homes may all your decisions be good and happy ones. To those with employment problems, my your next job bring you joy along with a satifactory salary and benefits. Wishing everyone a happy and fun 4th of July weekend. Be safe, eat well, and enjoy your family and friends ((**==)) |
Rant: is it me or is this thread hopeless tangled up?
