A real FF Rave: Just got a call from SW Gallery. They sold one of my consignment Kay Walton "Hill Country" landscapes for almost three times what I paid for it.

Rave: Today is Friday and the end of a horribly long work week.

Rant: Daughter wants me to take her to NYC for a shopping trip for her 16th birthday!

Rave: Hey, at least I have a real job again.

Rant: Not enough to pay for a trip to NYC for shopping for her birthday.

seetheworld Feb 25th, 2005 09:07 AM

Patrick, sounds like you had a great time! Can you tell me how far the Asolo Theater is from the Ritz Carlton in Sarasota? I'm thinking of getting tickets to "The Smell of the Kill" - Thanks!

jasper Feb 25th, 2005 10:10 AM

ms_go Feb 25th, 2005 10:23 AM

Message: Rave: Cubs tickets on sale today. Baseball is only weeks away now.

Rant: Five browser windows open on two different computers for more than three hours, now, and not even one chance yet to buy tickets. I'll be having nightmares tonight about the Virtual Waiting Room. And I'm not getting any work done, either. :(

RAVE - MY SISTER WAS JUST SELECTED TO BE ON THE NEW SEASON OF TRADING SPOUSES!!!!!!
They just called her!

OMG! She is guaranteed at least 50k, it may be more next season.

Jor--Wanna pick my lottery numbers??

Ryan--Good luck w/everything and feel good!

PamSF--About a week ago, a favorite student of mine (12 yrs old) found out her leukemia is back and she has a brain tumor. She will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant b/c her brothers are perfect matches...This has inspired my husband and I to get screened and I encourage others to do the same. I understand it's just a swap of the inside of your mouth to find out you may be able to save someone's life.

LoveItaly--I bet you'll have fun on that trip in April ;)

My rant--Coworkers who backstab...Until now, I've only heard about it, never experienced it.

Rave: True friends and a wonderful spouse.

It's Friday!!

Good wishes to all!

OneWanderingJew Feb 25th, 2005 11:12 AM

Ooops..."swap" of the mouth should read "swab" of the mouth!!

TXTravelPro--How cool! Keep us posted, ok?

Patrick Feb 25th, 2005 11:14 AM

seetheworld, do go see Smell of the Kill. Such great fun, but it is a short show, less than an hour and a half and no intermission.

It's about 3 or 4 miles from the Ritz to the Asolo, straight north on US 41. Too far to walk, if that's what you mean.

CAPH52 Feb 25th, 2005 11:17 AM

ms_go, against my better judgement, I let my son go to school a little late this am so he could try for Cubs tickets. At one point, he had 60 windows open, didn't get a thing! Don't know if that makes you feel any better! I know he was not a happy camper when I dropped him at school.

JJ5 Feb 25th, 2005 11:46 AM

One of my student workers just got Cubs tickets and is online trying to get the second set right now.

Makes me so glad that I am a Sox fan, when I see what they go through. Why?

Just opened a new brochure from the White Sox for a "season plan" last night while doing my mail. It's a large magazine format/shiney page get up. And in the middle, there is a whole page picture of youngest son tailgating. He is toasting with an "over a kettle grill" beer bottle raised salute. He didn't know it was coming out either.
Do I tease him about being a "centerfold" now?

LoveItaly Feb 25th, 2005 11:53 AM

Rant: My grandson is in a concert tonight, and his school "forgot" to advise anyone. And of course my grandson didn't mention it either. So my DD & husband and I switched plans that we had made.

Rave: Yes, OWJ, I am counting the days until my April trip. I am really excited about it.

Rant: Fog is still hanging around here.

Rave: Spring should be here soon.

Rave-Snow missed us for a change.

Rant-Another child abducted from their home.

Rave-Girl Scout cookies will be in tomorrow! Now, what wine goes with thin mints?

Rant-Brother is sick and they can't find out what is wrong with him. I hope it isn't related to the Agent Orange exposure he had in Nam.

Rave-March Madness just around the corner.

Ryan & Ani, sending positive get better vibes your way.

Tx-50k for Trading Spouses, where do I sign up?

Pam-Sorry to hear about your patient.

Have a great weekend fellow Fodorites. Happy & Safe Travels. :-)

Mr R5
:-x
de-lightedly presented me an early
Birthday surprise-
last nights
8th Row (just left of center)
:S-
seats for Harry Connick, Jr.

His piano playing was such fun to watch and his orchestra fabulous. Just wished they had a dance floor-'cause you cannot sit still when he plays !

RAVE: The birthday fun continues
through March 6. I think everyone
ought to have at least a week to
celebrate !

RAVE: My neighbor left a card at our door last night. She wanted to tell me how much she enjoyed the bird feeders
on our top deck. She'd had a tough year
and always found it calming and peaceful to just look out and take in
this little slice of nature.
Very, very sweet.
@};- for Helen.

RAVE: My constant nudging of my neighbors to re-cycle more has gotten
a 70% percent increase in the last 2 quarters!
Applause for neighbors!
=D> =D> =D>

Ryan: Sending good thoughts your way.

RAVE: All these "attic/garage" finds !
****Almost****** makes me want to start spring cleaning....almost.

Pam: Sorry about your patient, yes, I
support all the research. See you soon!

Hope all have comfy weekend in Fodorville !

Buckeyemom
Sorry to hear your brother is sick. I know you are worried. Prayers for his healing!

buckeyemom Feb 25th, 2005 12:23 PM

Thanks cd.

babs001 Feb 25th, 2005 12:30 PM

Rave: Beautiful day, but afraid it's warming up too fast, may mean hot summer

Rant: Love the Cubs but live too far away to even try for tickets! Last time we had tickets they were for 9/11. They said we could turn them back in for a refund but it seem alittle petty so we just kept them.

Hope everyone has a glorious, healthy weekend!

suzanne Feb 25th, 2005 01:14 PM

Rant - I am STILL sick. I have had various colds, throat infections, and a cough for 3 weeks. It sounds like a lot of you are in the same boat.

Rave - just bought plane tickets to go to Los Angeles in a week. Yippee!

Rant/Rave - we are actually considering moving there (stay tuned)

Rant - my BF has to work all weekend

Rave - Swing dance lessons start on Monday! Good to learn new things...or in this case, relearn old things...

jor Feb 25th, 2005 01:14 PM

Oh ahhnold, "If John Kerry were elected, all liberals would be praising this european "tour". Nobody would call it rhetoric". Please!

If John Kerry were elected he would be touring Europe apologizing to our allies for our past president's trashing of nations which did not agree with him for starting a war which had no base in truth. Bush is the Great Divider and now wants to kiss and make up so he can start his next adventure (war) in Iran.

OO Feb 25th, 2005 01:17 PM

rave: for the good and caring people on this board.

rant: for those hell-bent on creating the opposite scenario.

Diagnosis: unhappy lives looking for company. (Now that's gonna get me in trouble)

Best wishes to those down with bugs, the unknown variety being the most frightening.

TXTravelPro...now you've got to let us know when the show comes on. I've seen one or two episodes and it might take more than 50K to get me to do it! Yikes Your sis is a brave soul.

Rave: Happiness in our move to San Antonio. After looking at probably 100 houses, we've found the perfect one. I loved it from the moment I first saw the peak of its metal roof as we rounded a hilltop, and by the time I was 15' inside the door, knew it would be ours. Now it will be, March 10th.

rant: all the work entailed now in actually moving, and having me in Tampa and my DH in San Antonio until we do move is the pits. Who else doesn't sleep well with their spouse away?
