Rave - the gorgeous weather here, and I just lost my stress-pot job so I can actually enjoy the outdoors!!
Rant- one of my relatives(no details, but i am about to pull my hair out) |
Marigross,
I hope you're not walking. Some folks actually do the entire pilgimage to Santiago on foot as some kind of spiritual release. I would highly recommend at least one night at the Parador in Baiona (ocean view only). The local seafood - esp the local Scallop - is world class. M |
Rave: The great (mostly non-commercial) things that people are raving about on this site are so cool.
Rave: Jor, for getting this started. Rave: It rained a little at my house last night, freshening things up and cleaning the air, and the weather's beautiful today. Rave: I have no commitments this weekend, next week I'll have some vacation days, and I only have 2 hours of work left today! |
Rave: Our condo is free this weekend and we're headed up there for the weekend! No kids this time, just the two of us which is a first this summer.
Rant: DD starts 6:00am water polo practices next week. Guess who gets to drive her? Rave: Taking the kayaks up, I just love it. We found a little cove that we adore, very peaceful. Rant: It's still really hot here! Rave: Went up to Ducey's on the Lake for dinner Wed. night in Bass Lake. Gorgeous area, and the lake was full and beautiful! Rant: The food was different, I think they changed chef's. :( Rave: Found a great little bistro here where we had an excellent meal, Fugazzi's Bistro. Great spinach fettucini with broiled, blackened chicken that was prepared just right! Rant: Summer went by too fast, I'm not ready for school to start! Rave: Taking two great bottles of wine to the condo to have with dinner at our favorite restaurant there. I'm leaning towards halibut one night and prime rib the next! Can't wait!! Clear blue lake, fresh mountain air, beautiful swimming pool with spa, tennis courts and the man I love! It doesn't get better than this!!! ***kim*** :) |
Rave: Thanks for the condolences Statia but only North Carolina's Outer Banks had Alex problems.
Rant: (Not directed at you Statia) People who refer to North Carolina and South Carolina as one state. I was out a month or so ago having cocktails with girlfriends and we happened upon a cute group of doctors from PA. One of them said "we've been looking forward to visiting Carolina all winter". I said "you made it through how many years of college and flunked geography?". It really shocks me the number of people that do not realize Raleigh and Charlotte are in North Carolina. |
GoTravel,
I've worked with plenty of people from both North and South Carolina here in NY. Many, from both places, would say they were from "Carolina." First, you people need to sort out the Carolina ownership rights before expecting the rest of us differentiate between them. |
I agree with you, GoTravel. Actually my best friend has two children in school up that way. One in N.C., one in S.C., so I typically refer to them separately. Guess I've been hearing them referred to as "The Carolinas" on the news too much lately and it's rubbed off. :)
|
Ryan, no one from either North Carolina or South Carolina would ever refer to both as 'Carolina' or say they were from 'Carolina'. The people you are refering to aren't originally from the south.
That is a yankee thing. Statia, the Weather Channel refers to both as 'The Carolinas' so that is probably where you are picking it up from. |
RAVE: I know the difference between the two entirely different states of North & South Carolina and use the names correctly! :)
|
Suzanne--very cute! It's not easy being green--hope you're feeling better ((c)) b-(
Rave: Happy for those getting a blast of cool air...could you send some my way?!? Rant: It is so bloomin' hot here...feels like.... >:) Rave: the ice rink! |
GoTravel, I know what you mean!
Having been raised in Charlotte NC, I hate it when people refer to it as Carolina or worse ( if you are from NC) when people ask me about "growing up in SC" ...Yankees seem to think there is only one and it is South :D All except one Yankee of course ((F)) |
Rave: After six months of perserverance, I finally got Oprah tickets today!
|
LOL Scarlett!
When I tell people I'm from South Carolina they almost always come back with "oh, I was in Raleigh once.". |
GoTravel,
The people I was speaking about are most certainly from CAROLINA. I dated one of them for 2 years and she was 3rd generation UNC alum, 4 of them I worked with directly at a bank in New York that had a pipeline from the South due to the head of my division being a UNC Alum and former Dean Smith player of (1 from Winston-Salem, 1 from Charlotte, 1 from High Point, and 1 from Charleston), 1 was my former boss who now has the business school at USC named after her and the other is now the Governor of South Carolina. I know what I heard. |
