Jorr, everytime we watch "Fargo," we then do that accent/the expressions for weeks afterward! Especially, the "Yahhhh........" :-d Frances McDormand was incredible in that movie, and the relationship between her character and her husband makes us howl! The movie is so different ... such horrible subject matter, yet such hilarious (in some ways, at times) characters and situations!

Come back to Raleigh sometime, and we'll have sweet tea and pork BBQ! :-)

earl,
They don't allow "drive-by Goolgling"?
:-O
It will never last. [(

Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes. They give a warm feeling of community caring.

John, thanks for sharing. Hugs and peace during this holiday season. You touched my heart.

Bennie, congratulations, wonderful news.

Rant: As the cowboys in old-style Westerns used to say: It's quiet around here. A little TOO quiet.

Rave: Was just commissioned to write a book re European healthcare.

Rave: They're paying 1/3 up front. The fools!!! OK, my Cartman/Catbert moment is over.

Rant: I have to actually write the thing before they pay the remaining 2/3. ;-)

Rave: Spending two weeks in Belgium and Germany in December. Will get to hit a couple of Christmas markets and slot in a day trip to Paris.

Rave: All my friends and family are in good health and not having any personal/work/financial crises. That is a major, major rave.

Rant: Had planned to lose a few kilos before the holidays. Instead, I gained one. Oops. How did that happen??

Rant: For various annoying reasons, insurance won't cover loss of my wedding ring through a hole in the floorboards of our Victorian cottage. And since we're renting, we can't rip up the boards. Looks like I'll be wearing my $15 Dillards replacement a while longer. (Book advance is going to taxes and new laptop.)

Earl30, your post will give us the answer to whether it is true that you can't be banned if you have an aol address.

Kal, what, they don't allow "drive-by Goolgling" here in the Gulag?

MikePinTucson Nov 18th, 2005 12:50 PM

My take on EX board is that you do have to register at the EX board web site. But you don't have to become a "member" of any specific "community". You can lurk all you want, but you don't become a "member" until you post on a site.

Anyway, that's my understanding.

Also, even though the ETG community obviously will need work, even now it doesn't seem any more difficult to get around in thad Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree. I think a lot has to do with setting account preferences correctly

Marilyn Nov 18th, 2005 12:51 PM

BTilke, miss you, dear.
cylueth LOL.
Many changes in the works...

Kal Nov 18th, 2005 12:55 PM

cy,
Here, sometimes it seems to be encourgaed and then protected....like the way Trip Advisor has gotten to be.
:-"

MikeP,
Even a 10-thumbed beast like me can navigate that place.....it's so ez.
I like the fact that it has a lot more features that posters here were requesting when we thought they actually cared what we offered...like adding a photo right in your post, all sorts of fonts, edits, econs. etc.

MikePinTucson Nov 18th, 2005 01:13 PM

Kal (and Fodor's)

I like that you can insert a clickable link at EZBoard. wish we had that capability here, since so many people like to post links to their picture albums and such.

tpatricco Nov 18th, 2005 01:41 PM

Kinda just like you just can't help yourself from clicking on this thread leelane?

leelane911 Nov 18th, 2005 01:49 PM

tpatricco, I should not post on this thread because? I am not one of the posters who promised to never show their faces here again. As to you, if the shoe fits ---

Marilyn Nov 18th, 2005 01:51 PM

Who promised never to show their face here again? Not I.

FainaAgain Nov 18th, 2005 01:52 PM

Hush, kids, behave! And be grateful I don't order you 2 to hug! :)

FainaAgain Nov 18th, 2005 01:53 PM

Marilyn, me thinks instead of faces other parts are sometimes showing LOL

Marilyn Nov 18th, 2005 02:01 PM

leelane, I don't believe I have trashed anything. I realize that there has been a rather constrictive movement here lately where open discussion is concerned, and I have adapted accordingly.

(If I have "trashed" anything, it's going to be your memory against mine, as it has surely been deleted.)

mikemo Nov 18th, 2005 02:09 PM

Rave: a 4 for 3 rate at Hot Mansion Iturbe in Patzquaro for Thanksgiving weekend: $317.US incl b'fast, evening bar, and IVA (tax).
M

Marilyn Nov 18th, 2005 02:23 PM

Mike, I love Patzcuaro! Have you ever been to Paricutin, where the village was buried in the lava and only the church steeple is sticking up?

mikemo Nov 18th, 2005 02:38 PM

Marilyn,
I guess you know I live in SMdA, but this is a fun quiet time to go to Michoacan.
M

Kal Nov 18th, 2005 02:46 PM

I just got back from the gym and just had a rather constrictive movement. b(

Come one leelane...if we left who would you have left to bash? :-X
Kranks like you NEED Klowns like us or else you'd turn on each other. :O)

Marilyn Nov 18th, 2005 02:48 PM

Another fave place of mine, Mike. Lucky you. (I've been all over Mexico.)
