Funny how a simple word can release tears and emotions. I hope everyone conjures up precious memories this Thanksgiving.

Rant/rant: DAL dumped our FF business to/from EZE out of their res system/management and pilots' union pursuing mutual self destruction.

Rave: TA forums still vibrant.

Rave: cooler nights and spectacular warm (high 70's) days.

Rant: no significant rain 'til June.

Rave: year end financial rally(ies).

Rave: Thanksgiving in Michoacan and Christmas in Barra de Navidad (EZE in Jan/Feb if we can get seats on CON with our DAL miles). Sons and DIL may be here for NY's week.

Rant: the horrors of biology and the H5N1 avian flu.

ˇFeliz fin de semana and Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Anniversary CD and Iceeu2!

Yay Seetheworld! And yay for P_M!

Good luck with the househunt Ethel. I feel your pain; we were in the same situation last year. We chose a 1940's rancher in our price range and are trying to infuse some character. lol

Tpatricco: Thoughts for your friend!

Rave: It's almost Thanksgiving.

Rave: And it's Friday!

travelinwifey Nov 18th, 2005 07:09 AM

Rant: The planning and family disputes regarding my inlaws 50th Anniversary at Disney in a few weeks. We will never, ever go through this stress again, not worth it sad to say.

Rant: The danger zone season for weight gain! Have such a hard time maintaing my weight from Halloween through Christmas!

Rave: Random acts of kindness, so many on FFR&R's alone ((l))

Rave: Harry Potter

Rave: Planning new getaways

Happy Thanksgiving to all!:*(({))((}))

cigalechanta Nov 18th, 2005 07:14 AM

Tiff, I don't remember where you live. It would be great to know what state or city our fellow fodorites on FFR&R are from. I can think of only of a few for sure. I'm from northern Minnesota (as some of you probabaly know). Anyone else care to tell us where you are from (even if you did in a prior post)? Surely must be some new posters especially.

another rave: I bought a 20 pound bag of red potatoes for $1.99! The problem is we can't figure out how to store about 10 pounds of them for future use so they don't spoil. Any suggestions?

elizabeth_reed Nov 18th, 2005 07:36 AM

Rave: on vacation all of next week.
Rave: driving to the in-laws tomorrow.
Rave: yesterday was my in-laws 59th anniversary.
Rave: effort to conbine the joy of a long marriage and Thanksgiving with my father-in-law's Alzheimers. (He's still at an early stage.)

Jorr, I live in Fargo, N.D. (but no Scandinavian accent). I've gotten the impression that you're somewhere along I-94.

OldSouthernBelle Nov 18th, 2005 07:39 AM

Congrats to iceeu2 and cd for your anniversaries!...my 32'd coming soon!

Also, to Ethel and GoTravel for winning the weight battle! I know how it is! I also finally lost a couple pounds this week, which may help balance out the T-Day gorge!:)) But it's definately NOT EASY!!

MelissaH: My sentiments, exactly!!

cd: As soon as people talk, it gets deleted, and the banned list grows...
There's been plenty and still is on the 'other' board.

PM: I'm SO glad to hear things are going right for you for a change!! FYI you have been in my prayers.

JJ5: Just keep it between the lines! lol.

Happy travels to all with your upcoming trips! Isn't life grand?!:)

Jersey: Hope your meds are benefiting you to the max! Some of us don't have that excuse, and still feel confused, so don't let that stop you from joining in!

Tiff: I'm sad for your friend. Hope he's on the mend soon! My DIL's father has his last chemo Rx on Thanksgiving Day! Glad it's his last((Y)), but hate it has to be that day!

Buckeyemom: I have a similar problem. My cholesterol is higher than DH's who is very much overweight, eats pretty much what he wants, while my weight is WNL and I exercise! Mom is the same, so I expect to have to go on meds next Dr. visit. Doesn't seem fair, but as we've seen, many things aren't!:S-

Rave: Looking forward to a good weekend with our sons and DIL at the AL/AU game. It's a mixed group, so SOMEONE
will come home happy! Roll Tide!!!

Rave: Cool weather!

Rave: Good Friends!

Rave: Good employer! They took us out to eat last night and gave us a gift for National Rehab Week! I've never had that done at any prior place of employment...we were lucky to get a poster on the door or a pin!
Makes you feel appreciated!!

Have a wonderful, fun filled Thanksgiving week!

Belle

Rave: I came to work this moring to 64 posts already on FFR&R!! Thank you all who stayed to nurture my addiction :)

Rant: my scale wouldn't go lower, still only 6 lbs lost. I'm lying to myself that the fat is being replaced by muscles which weigh more ;)

Rave: dieting or meds, my blood pressure is normal, switched from chemicals to herbs! And enjoy the feeling of "not-so-tight" clothes!

Hugs to all who need them. Congratulations to everybody with good news!

And Alya: no way, Janis is our California gal :))

OldSouthernBelle Nov 18th, 2005 07:47 AM

jorr: AL and keep them cool!

cigalechanta: The link didn't work. I even copied, pasted to notepad to delete the emoticon, but it still didn't work...FYI.

Also, aren't you the one who posted the tinyURL info? It works well!((F))

tpatricco Nov 18th, 2005 07:54 AM

Kureiff, thanks! Are you referencing my rant last week about my friend's grandmother? She passed away peacefully this past Monday. He was able to fly to Rome (on Friday) and be with her in her last days, which I know was a great comfort to him and to her.

We should all remember to celebrate our grandparents, living or passed on. I was lucky to have a wonderful grandfather and have so many happy memories of times we spent together.

doc_ Nov 18th, 2005 07:55 AM

Rave: Cabo this week.

Tiff Nov 18th, 2005 07:55 AM

Bonniebroad, cd, Ethel, mms, OSB ~ Thank you so much for your kind words. And it made me heart so sad to know of your experiences too as loved ones have battled with this terrible disease. I am sorry for your pain.

Johnthedorf ~ I could totally relate to your experience, sometimes all it takes is a word, a scent, a stranger that is walking down the street that barely looks like my Dad and a flood gate of emotion comes my way. Sometimes in a happy way, sometimes sad. A hug for you, my dear.

Jorr ~ I live south of you. The Minneapolis area. :) We have some ground cover, but I wonder if it will stay... it has been sooo cold, but Sunday is suppose to be 46! ((#))

cigalechanta Nov 18th, 2005 07:57 AM

Bell, it works, I tried it again?

tpatricio, so true, I've lost both parents and grandparents and feel like an orphan.

GoTravel Nov 18th, 2005 07:58 AM

Rave: I forgot, Clemson vs. South Carolina game this weekend.

GO COCKS!!!

jorr Nov 18th, 2005 08:00 AM

OldSouthernBelle, do you mean refigerator cool or basement cool and dark cool? thanks.

OldSouthernBelle Nov 18th, 2005 08:07 AM

cigalechanta: Oh! Consider me the 'dumb belle'! I assumed I had to delete the emoticon to make it work! Cute! Thanks!

jorr: If you have a basement (rare here in the south), that would be the place of choice! Store in a bag that allows ventilation (net or brown paper, or even an old pillow case), and yes, dark is recommended. If they can be spread out, not clumped together, that helps too!

So I'd say the recipe is cool, dark, dry!

Where I live there's only one choice, the frig! Mom gave me sweet poatoes from her garden two weeks ago, I did not refrigerate, and now they are sprouting!

Rave--Just got tickets to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra show!!! I am going with several girlfriends and we are all huge fans!

jorr Nov 18th, 2005 08:28 AM

OldSouthernBelle, Thanks. I am going to put about 15 pounds of the potatoes in the basement tonight in the room which has no windows. I was going to mention that I knew you don't have basements in the south. I lived in San Antonio for several years where there are no basements.
