Freaky Friday Rants and Raves 11-18

Rant: Tuesday's snow storm

Rave: warmer weather this weekend.

Rant: vacuming up thousands of dead lady bugs.

cd Nov 17th, 2005 07:28 PM

Rave: FFRR that feels familiar. Thanks jorr!

seetheworld Nov 17th, 2005 07:33 PM

Rave: FFR&R! I will continue to post on this thread, regardless of what anyone else decides to do.

Rave: I'm still awake and the first one to post on FFR&R!

Rant: I'm still awake! I should be sleeping a long time ago!

Rave: Passing my final exam.

Rant: I still have a lot of work to complete over the next 3 weeks.

Rave: My DH comes home from Texas tomorrow night.

Rave: My kids will be coming home for Thanksgiving :D :D

Rave: Plans for our pre-holiday vacation are coming along nicely! :D

Rant: Sorry to see so many "go". While I may lurk and occasionally post on the *other* place, I will be staying here (not that I expect anyone to really care, lol). I have never been one to go with the crowd. Best of luck to those who feel this is no longer the place for them. Take good care.

Wishing Thanksgiving blessings to everyone. May our country be safe and may those who protect us be honored.

Peace.

seetheworld Nov 17th, 2005 07:34 PM

Okay, so cd beat me to it, lol.

I will revise...

Rave: I am the second one to post on FFR&R!

cigalechanta Nov 17th, 2005 07:37 PM

And I'll be the third.
Rant: Getting colder here.
Rave: my first nouveau Beaujolais and roasted chestnuts tonight.

indytravel Nov 17th, 2005 07:44 PM

I just want to be part of the early crowd.

Rant: None. Compared to the vast majority of the known universe my life is so d*mn easy.

Rave: I leave for Paris Tuesday. (See Rant above to know how thankful I am. :-) )

Scarlett Nov 17th, 2005 07:56 PM

OK, I will be in the Top Ten!!

Rave: Gorgeous ( in the words of our weatherman) Weather all this week and next, here in Portland :)

Our first Thanksgiving in our new home, much to be Thankful for..a Loving and Healthy family and Good friends ..

No Rants..although I do miss some friends~

starrsville Nov 17th, 2005 08:04 PM

Rant: Fodor's Editors letting a not-so-serious problem become a way-too-big issue by choosing not to address an obvious mistake.

I wish SOMEONE would take some sort of responsibility or demonstrate some semblance of grace and say, "sorry", "my bad", "our bad" or "bans lifted".

I miss the old Fodors. It's just not the same with 99 folks gone - or disheartened and not posting like we used to.

Such a shame...

bonniebroad Nov 17th, 2005 08:05 PM

RAVE: Really cold weather has come to Raleigh, finally!!! I have on my flannel jammies, the down blanket is on the bed and I'm all set! :-)

RAVE: Jorr here with his FFR&R ... wish I had some of your snow, Jorr!

RAVE: friends like Seetheworld on this Board. ((f)) So nice to see you here tonight! Wish I could pass you a cuppa tea and some banana bread ... :-)

RAVE: Carolina Hurricanes 5, New York Rangers 1. (But Eric Stahl left the game early with an upper body injury. It just CAN'T be serious ... :-( )

RAVE: Starting to get back into my healthy program again. 3 long walks in the last six days, 2 weight & biking sessions, 1 water class ... and eating right again. ;;)

RAVE: Indytravel's going to Paris. Have a wonderful trip, Indy, and have a croissant for me! :p

RAVE: Cigale ... YUM ... roasted chestnuts! Haven't had them in a long time!

RAVE: Thanksgiving in the North Carolina mountains with family, and I'm doing Paul Prudhomme's Upside-down Sweet Potato Pecan Pie with Whipped Cream ...Talk about heaven on earth ... :-d

Have a blessed Thanksgiving, my fellow travelers, and try not to become more stuffed than the turkey was! :-d

bonniebroad Nov 17th, 2005 08:15 PM

RAVE RAVE RAVE: Seetheworld passing her exam!!! So proud of you ... drinking to ya, girl! ((d))

cd Nov 17th, 2005 08:15 PM

starrsville:
I so agree. I wish we knew what is going on. I don't get it and I don't think ANYONE does. If only someone would talk.......

razzledazzle Nov 17th, 2005 08:19 PM

Rave: We have beautiful weather too !
75 degrees is not normal for Sonoma
this time of year-
((H))
Rant: Now that I said that, it will snow
:))
Rave: Congrats to STW on passing exams
((Y))
Rant:Same as STW,Scarlett and starsville
:-<
Mountains out of molehills, I miss the old Fodor's too...it's just like having a good friend move to another town, it will take a while to get used to
talking with them long distance.
~sigh
Rave:jorr and FF&R
((*))
Happy Thanksgiving All!

Rave - jorr and the FFRR tradition

Rant - jorr's dead lady bugs - I think they're so cute.

Rave - Thanksgiving next week, we've booked to eat at Plimoth Plantation, one of the few places here in New England where we Brits get to be the 'Good Guys'

Rave - taking DH's parents with us, I think they will really enjoy it.

Rant - I have a cold and had to miss my Book Club meeting, didn't want to pass it on just before Thanksgiving - How popular whould I be?!!!

Seetheworld - congratulations, I haven't been here for the last week or so and have only just seen your post.

Major Rave - the Caribbean forum where we are so laid back and chilled we manage to post gripes in a calm manner and have reasonable discussions and therefore don't attract Trolls!

May it and it's posters always be a safe harbor in a storm :-), at the moment it's the only thing that's keeping me here on Fodors :-(

ElendilPickle Nov 17th, 2005 09:10 PM

Rave: we had a fun trip last weekend

Rant: Mr. Pickle went on a cheap streak and made us stay at Motel 6 :-)

Rave: Our oldest daughter and son-in-law will be here Sunday night!

Can't think of any rants at the moment. Have a happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Lee Ann

Rave: Thank you, Jorr, for something familiar to hold on to.

Rant: I also miss the old fodors. I lurk at both spots, but feel a little disjointed from both as well.

Rave: I'm glad that I can feel that way about an online community of folks, many of whom I have not met (yet) in person.

CaliNurse Nov 17th, 2005 09:17 PM

Rave: continued gorgeous Bay Area weather, but....
Rant: Missing weather that feels nippy and cool and East Coast style autumnal. Where is it??

Rave: The kids are happily off to other places over the holiday (Portland Ore; NorthTexas) and I'm glad they've inherited enjoyment of travel. They got lots of good trip tips on this forum. Thanks, all! But...
Rant: Since they are traveling, I don't get to see them at Thanksgiving!
Rave:Seetheworld, congratulations on passing your final exam. Possible rant on your behalf... major school bills now? No wonder you have to be like a bird (the Bird Flu thread) who is cheep-cheep!
Taking a page from Alya's rave...A Rave for all the terrific Costa Rica Fodies on the LA Forum. You know who you are!! Sure there've been occasional heated discussions, sarcasm, and disagreements but none that I recall with a noticeably high level of sardonic rancor.
Rave: So much personally to be thankful for this holiday season. No "buts" about it.

CaliNurse Nov 17th, 2005 09:21 PM

Seetheworld, I don't know how that emoticon got on your name above. Hope it means something good--looks like someone seeing the world? The only one I understand (blame it on detailless eyesight) is (-:

April Nov 17th, 2005 10:47 PM

Did someone mention banana bread? Mmmm.

What is this old Fodors people are talking about? I've obviously missed something.

Raves: A good haircut, and the flu shot is out of the way.

Worktowander Nov 17th, 2005 11:05 PM

Rave: Things seem to be calming down, albeit in a new form.

Rant: Cold, cold, cold (Jorr knows what I mean - same snow, same state).

Rant: Have to work on Thanksgiving.

Rave: Thanksgiving!

Have a good one, folks!

janisj Nov 17th, 2005 11:27 PM

RAVE: 76F today and supposed to be the same all the way through the holiday weekend!! Absolutely fabulous weather.

RANT: This place feels deserted - so much less activity, few ineresting threads, MIAs, just sooooo sad. Even on the Europe forum which always had more traffic, it appears to be down 25%-30% or more. Talk about ruining a good thing!!!!
