Frankie, I guess I've been in a news bubble since Tuesday. I saw his quote this morning and was floored. What a sicko Bill O'liely is. I would never wish terrorism on anyone, no matter how much I might disagree with someone politically. I feel sorry for anyone who harbors that much evil in their heart. Isn't bombing someone you disagree with what the terrorists do?

leelane911 Nov 11th, 2005 09:22 AM

O'Reilly made his comments because he was incensed that San Francisco voted to not let the military recruit in public schools there. If you don't want to contribute to the defense of the U.S., maybe you should not be part of it, would seem to be his point. I am sure he was exaggerating to make that point.

jorr Nov 11th, 2005 09:37 AM

viamar, Here is another quote which very well could have come out of a terrorist's mouth. "There is no such thing as the United Nations". He also suggested that the top ten stories of the UN building in New York be chopped off.

This came from the mouth of President Bush's nominated Undersecretary of State John Bolton.

At least presidential appointee for director of FEMA Mike Brown had experience managing Horses. Geez! You couldn't write a screen play like this and make it sound believable.

travelinwifey Nov 11th, 2005 09:38 AM

That type of hate for anyone that doesn't agree with you is the reason the country is in the shape it's in now. So much negative energy.

P_M Nov 11th, 2005 09:48 AM

RAVE:

Pop the cork and pour me a glass.... ((d))

Sound the trumpets....

Are you ready for this????

I GOT THE JOB!!!! WOOHOO!!!! YIPPIE YI YAY!!!!

OMG, this is a happy day!! What a load off my mind this is!! And I don't think it's fully kicked in yet!!!! I will be starting sometime around Dec. 1. There is a slight pay cut, but not nearly as bad as I had feared. :-)

In honor of my new job, I would like to conduct the first ever Fodor's sing-along. Please forgive me, but my favorite conducting baton is being re-varnished, so I shall conduct with a #2 wooden pencil. So everyone, please stand up tall, clear your throats, and sing from your diaphram. (That's the diaphram in your chest--get your minds out of the gutter!!)

OK, here we go:

((8)) Happy days are here again ((8))
((8)) Coz P_M has a job, my friends ((8))
((8)) I will now have a life again ((8))
((8)) HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE A-GAAAAAIIIINNNNN!!!!

<sniff, sniff> That was beautiful, you all sounded so good.

Now if you'll excuse me, I must draft my resignation letter. After that, I shall do the River Dance on my desk!!

:-D

Yawn_boring Nov 11th, 2005 09:54 AM

wishing a terrorist attack on anyone is clearly going over the line (if that's what he did), but so is, I would say, voting to ban military recruitment in your city. it's a shameful reflection on the people of SF, no two ways about it.

BTW, are they making the (bogus) argument in SF that this is all about don't ask/don't tell?

jorr, hope you have an enjoyable veteran's day.

kureiff Nov 11th, 2005 09:57 AM

Hurrah for PM! Enjoy riverdancing on your desk. What a great start to the weekend! :)

((8))((X)) ((X)) ((X)) ((X)) ((X)) ((X)) ((X)) ((8)) I'm doing my *happy dance* for you!!!

I am so very happy for you! Email me the details when you have a chance :D

hunnym Nov 11th, 2005 09:59 AM

I don't often read this as I'm usually on the Europe board, but I just wanted to say congrats to P_M on getting the job!

jorr Nov 11th, 2005 10:00 AM

To be more precise John Bolton was also George W. Bush's choice for US Ambassador to the U.N.

ethel Nov 11th, 2005 10:11 AM

WooHoo!! Congratulations P_M. That's so awesome!!! Thanks for the sing along ((8)), that was fun.

((Y)) ((R)) >:D< ((D)) =D>

lcuy Nov 11th, 2005 10:14 AM

Congratulations PM!

Rave: I'm going to Princeton tonight! going to see my dancer-turned-rower daughter race for BU! Her first race AND a road trip all in one! But SHHHH! I'm surprising her, and only th ecoach knows!

Rave: Going to have dinner with one of my old best friends from college while in Philadelphia. Haven't seen her in 32 years! We only speak on the phone every 3 or 4 years, but never any awkward silences. True friends really are for life, aren't they?

Rave/Rant: Going back to India for 10 days on Nov 28. My daughter needs a travelling partner, and I love to fill thoses shoes! Only problem is trying to book every thing at the last minute, in high season, and on the Indian schedules! Got to fly 31 hours in economy to get there, and everywhere we want to go involves backtracking to New Delhi, then spending a night there.

But would I rather deal with this, than not go?? =D> Absolutely!

Happy long weekend!
Lucy

SF didn't vote to ban recruiting in the City. It voted to not recruit at schools. It is written into NCBL that schools must provide home phone numbers to the military recruiters. I wouldn't want them calling me at home either. If a family is interested in having their child join the military than there are plenty of avenues to do so, no need to bother them at home. I don't live in SF btw.
Interesting that most people who visit Coit Tower are out of state tourists.

jorr Nov 11th, 2005 10:22 AM

Yawn_boring, Thank you for wishing me an enjoyable veteran's day. I will be enjoying Vereran's Day evening with my veteran father who I mentioned in an earlier post. I hope you will be having an enjoyable Veteran's Day as well Yawn Boring.

BTW, gay people in SF have every right to voice their opinion if in fact that is what is behind SF's recruitment decisions but I doubt it is. They (parents) have probably decided that they don't want their children to get killed in the Iraq War which is based on misinformation and has no end in sight.

Ani Nov 11th, 2005 10:25 AM

CONGRATULATIONS P_M!

bennnie Nov 11th, 2005 10:25 AM

Congratulations P_M - that's great news!

Eeva - I have a school related question that I hope you can help me with. I missed the two dates to call for an appointment for the parent teacher conferences. What should I do? Can I email her team and plead? I missed the curriculm night because of work too so I haven't met any of her teachers yet. She's doing great but I still think I should meet her teachers and they should meet me. Any suggestions?

Little_Man Nov 11th, 2005 10:29 AM

ditto, Jorr. We're not talking about WWII here, we're talking about a war based on LIES and more LIES.

I wouldn't want my 18 year old son to give his life for this travesty of a war, but would've supported him wholeheartedly going to Afghanistan or WWII.

LoveItaly Nov 11th, 2005 10:33 AM

A Big Rave, P_M got a new job!!
I am sooo happy for you P_M! What a wonderful weekend you will have. Loved your song! ((*))

Another Big Rave, all our veterans who fought in past wars and our men and women involved in the present one, God keep you out of harms way. Thank you one and all. Rave: All those that rally against injustice, especially when it is because someone was trying to present the truth.

Rant: When someone has a been give a bit of power and doesn't know or care how to use it properly. My dear father always called it "The Streetcar Conductor" mentality.

Rave: All the parents working so hard to bring up responsible and carying children. It is the greatest gift you can give our world. Thank you! ((L))

Jorr, A truly wonderful evening is wished for you and your dad. Enjoy every special moment tonight. I am sure he is so proud to have you as his son.

To everyone who is dealing with health problems my prayers.

To all of those that have trips planned, enjoying working out the details. And for all of you that don't have trip plans my wish is that you soon will be able to plan a vacation.

Wishes to all of you for a beautiful weekend doing whatever gives you the most pleasure.
