Freaky Friday Rants and Raves 11-11
Rave: really warm weather
Rant: Tomorrow the temps will be "normal" The snow blower is ready to roll. |
Rant: Peter Kay and the ugly management of the boards lately.
Rave: Patrick rules! I would still like to know where he will be sharing his sharp wit and priceless travel information from now on. Rave: old friends from out of state are coming to visit for the weekend. Rave: gorgeous fall weather! Have a good weekend everyone! |
Rave: My h.s. senior is competing in his final Bands of America Grand Nationals today and tomorrow in Indy. His band has won the IN state championships four years in a row and placed well at BOA Finals each year. It is a bittersweet ending for the whole family. Glad its over, sorry its ending...
Rant: Nope, not one! |
Rave: I finished the marathon and have my life back!
Rave: No more Saturday long runs (for the time being) Rant: The Patrick Ban. |
Rant: Patrick is still in time out for being a naughty boy. Bad boy, Patrick. [-X Let's hope he can rejoin us soon.
Rave: Fodorites worldwide who have supported Patrick. If you would like to voice your opinion to the editors, please email them at [email protected]. Rave: New car!! I got the last new 2005 model on the lot for a very nice price, and I'm quite happy with it. I'm also glad the car-shopping process is over. I would rather have a root canal than to deal with car salesman. Although this is not a good time for us to take on a car payment, it is a relief to have a car that I'm not afraid to drive. It's scary driving an old car that was given a death sentence. Rave: I've been called in for a second interview today. But please, don't jinx this for my by telling any non-Fodorites. It'll be our secret!! :$ Let us join together and continue our battle cry: FREE PATRICK!!!! **== |
I haven't been on for a while and have missed the Patrick Ban! I'll have to read up ASAP.
RAVE: My daughter-at almost 19 months old she is a riot! RAVE: DH and I are going to Vegas in January-our first weekend alone in about 4 years. RAVE: The holidays! No rants-happy Friday everyone! |
Rave: finally, a true autumn snap in the air after protracted end-of-summer (used to be called "Indian Summer," which I thought meant it was a gift of added time for harvest but have now been told otherwise...).
Rant: the chill here as we wonder who will be next after Patrick, and why. Rave: one more scary test (the kind where you are encased in a narrow, round, white tube and it makes loud thumps and bangs and whirrs) with "all normal" results. I'm lucky or blessed on this one, knowing that there are so many others here who themselves are facing "not normal" results or have loved ones who are. |
Rave: P.M.'s second interview! Yea!
Rant: House is torn up completely for hardwood floors and painting. Rave: It will be beautiful when done! I found a great contractor. RANT, RANT, RANT: The bannings of Patrick and Grasshopper. I just don't get it and there's no explanation. |
Rave: PM's second interview! I won't say a word to anyone :)
Rave: Our Veterans. Thank you. Rave: On Monday I will find out if I passed my exam. Rave: Great news Cassandra - stay well. Rave: New Hampshire in December - we cannot wait to go. Have a nice weekend, everyone. |
Rave/Rant - I am now the mother of a teenager. My oldest daughter turned 13 this week. She is a beautiful young lady and we couldn't be more proud of her. She also got her first middle school report card. 4 A+s and 1 A!!!!
Rant - Went to NY with a friend and stayed at my brother's apartment. Friend went through my brother's girlfriend's closets and medicine cabinet, making sure I was aware that there were EPT tests in the cabinet. Met her son for the first time while we were there. Within 20 minutes,he boasted about sleeping with a girl he just met. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I was appalled and she can't understand why I'm upset. No sense of decorum or privacy, though both mother and son think they are the epitome of sophisication. Any future trips to NY will be with husband and/or daughters. Rave: Went to NY and saw the opera for the first time. Absolutely loved it and can't wait to go again. Rave: All my numerous nieces and nephews - they are growing up so fast! Ani - enjoy your baby. In a blink of an eye she'll be grown up. Everyone told me this and it is so true. Amwosu - congratulations to your son and his hs band. I love marching bands! GoT - congratulations on finishing. What an accomplishment! PM - Good luck with the car and the job hunt. Eeva - enjoy your day off from school. To all Fodorites whether banned or protesting - we are thinking of you. |
Rave: GoTravel did great in the NYC Marathon! You go, girl! :)
Rave: PM's new car and second interview! Good luck! Good luck on your tests, Cassandra and seetheworld. Here's to hoping you both have very good results. Rant: DH has to go to Houston to run some errands next week. He's already been working nights lately so I haven't seen him much as it is. Rave: Statia-America Day, the celebration of our island being the first nation to recegnize US Independence. That means a paid holiday on the 16th! Rave/Rant: The weeklong celebrations of such and shows in the street in front of my house. Lots of fun and I have a front row Mardis Gras style seat from my terrace. However, it lasts late and keeps me from my beauty rest. ;) Rave/Rant: It's Friday, my office is so busy, I might have to stay late to finish up today, but at least I'll be off the next two days. Have a wonderful weekend, Fodorites! |
Rant: Patrick being banned. Whatever happened to free speech. Bring back Patrick!
Rave: The house hunt is finally looking up. We may get to look at a house next week that we have been eyeing. It's been made very clear that we are to be the first ones to look at it with the first option to buy. If we choose not to buy it would then be listed on the market for a higher price. It will need a lot of work but we want a house so bad that it would be worth it. Especially, for the price I think we can get it for which is considerably low for the market in Lake Placid. It's exciting yet, stressful at the same time. It's especially hard when the process is like learning a foreign language. Anyway, I only talked with the owner once and made such an impression that she wants us to be the first ones to even see it. That makes me feel good. Rave: Fiance is coming home tonight after being gone all week. Rave: Lost 2 lbs. this week!!!! Rave: After having so many rants lately, it's nice to finally have the raves outweigh them. Rant: a little tiny one--it's snowing! I hope everyone has a great weekend! |
I forgot to say Congratulations to GoT for finishing the NY Marathon. That's so great. I wish I like running because I would love to be able to accomplish something like that.
|
Congrats to GoTravel for her marathon run, PM for the second interview.
Good luck Seetheworld on your test. Ani, your daughter is 19 months old? I remember the FFR&R when you'd count down time left in the pregnancy. Boy, time does fly. Just over a week until the NC area Fodor's GTG. Maybe it will turn into a Free Patrick rally? |
Rave: (fellow) Veterans.
Rant: Patrick's recent experience. Rant: Never received my bimonthly water and electric bills, so I have to go stand in (long) lines. Rave: Received 80 liters of LP gratis with a "fill-up" of my home gas tank on Monday. Rave: DIL's cervical ectopic PG now near totally resolved without surgical intervetion. Rant: She and YS cannot travel here for Thanksgiving. Feliz fin de semana. M |
Major Rant: The banning of Patrick, who has been very helpful over the years. There was NO need for such a high handed, peremptory banishment for a long-time poster who has been very helpful. Esp. when other longtimers who have been deliberately offensive and far less helpful are still going about their merry way.
Rave: We decided that our Christmas present to each other will be a month in Paris in 2006. We're chasing down apartments, trying to find the perfect fit for our budget (moderate) and taste. VRBO #60877 looks like the leading contender so far. Rant: I've been trying for days to reach someone to complete a very important work assignment and having no luck. I don't have much time left and don't want to disappoint the client, Not desperate yet, but getting there... |
Happy Friday Everyone! ((#))
Congrats GoT on your Marathon run! I know it took lots of hard work, training & sacrifice. An accomplishment to be very proud of! STW- I'm sure you'll pass with flying colors. The waiting is the worst part! Rant: The whole Patrick debacle. Rave: I'm finally working out of my new office & Fodoring on my new laptop! Rant: Move into new office had plenty of IT frustrations. Technology is great...when it works! Rave: 2 Weeks in St John in May! I know I raved about this last week too, but two sets of friends will come visit us & let us share our love of the island with them. We're really excited! Rave: Life is good - all around! Happy weekend! Trish |
Rave - beautiful day- friends coming in town to visit, getting ready for college daughter to visit for Thankssgiving ...her room is still a mess from her leaving in Aug!!!
Rant- I don't know what happened to patrick or why, but it sounds terrible and unfair!!! Long business trips away from the family. No leisure trups planned, :( |
Rave: **== Veteran's Day. No veteran's=no travel board.
Pretty sad it took about 8 posts to mention it. :-[ Rant: No comment under advisment of counsel. [-X |
Rant: the Patrick debacle and everything about it including the zillion Free Patrick posts. BTW, I don't recognize the names of the posters registering such disdain for the guy. I sure hope that "attitude" is short lived on this board or it will be the death of it.
Rave: The Kauai Klique. I know them, I love them and I could not agree more. BTW~ I would not consider Poipu in summer or winter. Rave: DEAR friends coming for dinner tomorrow night. I'm cooking a fabulous dinner(IMO)and we'll start with some perfectly chilled Schramsberg. Rant: Beloved neighbors packing now and leaving for Switzerland in 1 week. Rave: The veterans and those who did not survive Rant: The war Have a great weekend everyone. |
