Maybe if you keep redesinging your site I will be able to read only one thread topic at a time instead of two. Used to be able to see about eight at one time.

Ugh, distracting sewer-pond green, and teeeny tiny type next to the search and topic boxes.
And what's that logo in the middle of .com? A new moon with a vampire flying in front of it?
I'll bet your designers are all under 30. Please have mercy on those of us with older eyes!

A new moon with vampire flying in it. It is halloween time, right? Maybe there will a pumpkin or pilgrim for Thanksgiving. "Someone" is trying to be creative. So can we expect bright orange for November!

I just carry a plain backpack, so I don't need a page to match my bag, but I think it would be nice to have the pages match my cats. One is calico and the other black and white. That should give Fodors enough range to come up with something truly stylish.

I cannot see the reason for all the concern about the colors, logos, or type fonts. I visit Fodors for the content, and hardly notice the graphics, except those god-awful smileys that so many go overboard in using.
As long as there is no blinking or moving graphics/text, I hardly even notice it. If you (no one in particular) have a problem with text size, learn how to adjust your browser. If the graphics disturb you bad enough, use a text-only browser like Lynx.
If you can do a better job of hosting a forum, then by all means, publish one. You could be the next biggie in the online world.

That "offending text" are graphic images, not text. The wording within never changes.
One reads "POST A NEW MESSAGE - Registration required"
Another: "SEARCH THIS FORUM - Type a word or phrase" followed by "AND/OR TOPIC - hold down control key to click more than one"
Use a post-it to cover the strip at the top.
Problem solved. Next issue.

rb, I don't think anyone is arguing that Fodors doesn't have the right to do what it wants with it's site, or that we can do a better job. And I agree that the price we pay for getting great free info is that we may have to put up with graphics or colors we don't love.
But the problem here seems to be that this particular change has resulted in making the site very unpleasant for some viewers. I personally find the green border across the top actually hurts my eyes, and it seems to extend into my peripheral vision even when I try to avoid looking at it (and no, I'm not going to put a strip across my computer). Unlike the size of the graphics, I don't think I have the ability to change that. And again, it not that I don't happen to "like" the new color, but rather that it actually makes my eyes sting and water and start to shut. Big difference.

I promise this will be my last on this subject, and it's a serious suggestion.
When you see the list of topics to the left, right click on the topic you wish to read, and take the choice "Open in a new window" (or press N) and you'll get a separate window with no color strip and with the messages going across the entire browser window, instead of having separate topic and message frames.
I strongly believe that freedom of the press belongs to those who own the press, and for what we "pay" to visit, we have zero to say in the administration. Even tho I have good peripheral vision and older eyes, I hardly see the strip as I read the text, and I don't have any problem reading those graphics, as long as I'm wearing my "specs". But then I just got my exam & new glasses 6 mo ago. Maybe others could make an appointment soon as well.
