Florida Keys recommendations

My husband and I are looking for a spot to kick sand for a few days in early December. Want a place on the water in mid price range. Low key but not dead! We don't have a boat and are not fishermen. Any suggestions for B&B or hotel/motel?

Try www.keywest.com or www.fla-keys.com both have listings with prices and pictures.

Key West is one of my favorite places in the world! Having said that, though, you need to understand that if a beach is a priority with you, Key West won't be a great vacation spot. The little sand there was imported from other beaches and what's naturally there is ground coral, not sand. In Key West, you'd never have to worry about "dead"! Sorry I can't help you further, but I haven't found a mid price range yet!

Joan-
The cleanest and most pleasant place I have ever stayed is called the Kona Kai Resort in Key Largo. It is a small place with only 11 or 13 rooms and it is small, however is is a great place to kick back and a good location to travel from. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it and they have a great website--www.konakairesort.com. It is every bit as beautiful as the pictures. Have fun!

Joan,

Key West is wonderful but I can tell you where NOT to stay: The Eden House. I'd heard it was a charming little guest house and it was really just an ant-infested, broken down place with THE rudest workers I've ever encountered. There are so many other good places to stay in Key West but trust me, The Eden House ain't one of them.
