Florida Keys - Help Needed!

Hi Travel Experts,

I'm planning a trip with my husband and mother-in-law to the Florida Keys for a couple of nights in February. We're looking for something similar to Key West without traveling that far south. We're coming from Boynton Beach and would like the trip to be no more than a three hour drive each way. Thanks much!

Jayne,
Nothing else in the Keys is similar to Key West at all.
My suggestion would be to spend the extra time/money to get to the real thing...

I agree with Nancy. Nothing like the real thing. Key West is the real thing. Nothing else quite like it. All other destinations or keys would be very quiet compared to Key West.

Try Key Largo- it is the 1/2 way point to Key West and has some very nice hotels==---

But as all the other posts listed,KEY WEST is in a class by itself==it has a great little downtown to walk around in--and the sunsets are wonderful !

There is nothing like Key West. You will be very dissapointed with anything else if thats what you want.

Nancy...I've heard great things about Isle a Morada (not sure thats how it's spelled??) We have friends that go there every year and just love it. They told me the keys are very touristy and crowded with T-shirt shops...Good luck and have fun. B

The upper and middle keys are geared more to people interested in water sports and relaxation. If that's what you're after, Islamorada is a good spot. If you want lots of restaurants, tourist activities and great sunset celebrations - all within walking distance - Key West is the place for you.

If Key West is what you are looking for, Key West is where you need to go. There is nothing else like it in the Keys. Nothing even comes close.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks very much for your help...much appreciated. We've decided to go to Islamorada, because it's closer and my husband wants to dive. We'll go to Key West next time...something I've always wanted to do.

Nancy...still using Jayne's computer
