enough of the snotty comments

ok nawlins and ggg (too embarassed to use your real names, huh? Give the guy a break. The purpose of this forum is to ask reasonable questions - which I believe he did. I'm from San Francisco and I'm the one who is ashamed of your comments. Not everyone is as "informed" of hotel choices as you pretend to be - maybe, just maybe, those who don't live here genuinely want an opinion. Keep your dimestore analysis to yourself. Tourism is the number one industry in this state, in case you forgot, so knock it off and keep your juvenile comments to yourself.

Might I also add that when someone asks a legitimate question they deserve a legitimate answer - no matter how many times it's been asked before. To answer someone with "SHEESH - we've answered this one a zillion times" is rude. Some folks don't have the time to scroll down through 100's of posts. Another thing that gets me is when someone asks a simple question and is redirected to another website - please just answer the question, don't impress us with how well you can navigate the web.

I find that sarcasm lets me in on the true sophistication of the author. I went looking for ski recommendations for New England and some guy named Timmy said Killington is "NJ hits the slopes" and therefore a place to avoid. This kid was clearly in college or still living at home. I am not from NJ but I just thought this was something none of my adults friends would say on a public forum like this. Timmy kind of revealed himself with this comment. So while this stuff can be annoying it is helpful I believe in weeding out the morons. I really believe that. I can't believe someone like Timmy travels all that much so he will not be around to bother us for long.

Robert, As a regular poster and an adult, I appreciate Timmy's comment. It is just that type of insight that one will NOT find in a guide book, but will give someone a good idea of the ambience a given place will posess. If Killington is NJ hits the slopes, then Stratton is Fairfield county at the slopes. I'm not saying either is good or bad, only that some people might like that type of information so they know whether they would or would not enjoy themselves in a particular place. Now which mountain has all the New Yorkers?

Curious, Timmy in my view had very simple minded way of looking at travel. If Timmy even wanted to tell us that the slopes were crowded from people from NJ he could have been a gentleman or at least a grown up about it. How often do you travel of the beaten track curious? How did he know that the poster he was addressing was not from NJ? That aside a cultivated traveler would have said it is crowded etc..I do not accept slamming an entire state's pop in a careless manner. You don't see this kind of a comment in travel guides because they would not sell.

P.S. NY travels the globe as I am sure many in NJ do. Oh but according to Timmy we all like Mt. Snow best. Come on this kid was posting from his bedroom at the p's. Don't think we can connect on this one Curious I think he was being an Idiot. The bright side is that I can ignore his judgements and move on to posts that I think give educated advice.

Robert, In answer to your question about how often I travel off the beaten track, the answer would be quite often, all though I'm not sure of the relevence that has to my opinion regarding Timmy's response. FYI, I was born in Fort Dix N.J. and I didn't read what Timmy said about it, only that there were a lot of people from N.J. at Killington. Friends have always made the comment when skiing at Stratton that it's like the town of New Canaan just moved North a few hours, since it seems entirely invaded by that town. I still fail to see how these comments can be taken for anything other than what they are, simple facts regarding an area and the people who make up the general population of a particular place. This information would never deter me from visiting anywhere, but it might others. I haven't been to Killington in about 20 years so perhaps Timmy's generalization is accurate. It's pretty much common knowledge that many mountains in the Northeast cater to different crowds, like families, college kids, New Yorkers, Connecticut residents, and yes New Jersey residents. This also holds true for many beaches around the world. It seems to me that Timmy was just giving you the lowdown on the atmosphere of the various mountains, but it could be that I prefer to look at people's views in an optomistic light.
I also think Mt. Snow is a great Family mountain for a ski trip, as well as Okemo. I also know that many residents off all states including myself, travel the globe. I'm not sure why, but it seems you are just a bit sensitive to generalizations. As for me, I encourage and welcome peoples opinions and perspectives on places they have visited.

Good, is it a fun place as well? I've never met anyone from Pennsylvania I didn't like, count me in!
