Help me decide on hotels in Vegas

Definitely Bellagio. The location is the best and you can walk everywhere. There is no comparrison as the Bellagio has true class. Monte Carlo is nice but doesn't hold a candle and Mandelay Bay has the 4 Season section which would compare but they are having to sort out some just opening kinks in service. Bellagio has such a wonderful art museum. Go late and avoid the crowds. It is a stunning collection and the flowers and pool setting are very classy. Enjoy. E-mail me if you need to. lvol.com (las vegas on line) has some excellent trip biography's listed that will help you and a lot of restaurant suggestions.

I would check out the Venetian Hotel. A friend of mine stayed there last week. They are all suites w/sunken living rooms. He said the bathroom was bigger than most hotel rooms w/glass enclosed showers and seperate tubs. There is upscale shops attached and gondala rides you can take. It is fashioned after venice. I know that is where I am going to stay next time I go!

As a guy who has the opportunity to travel to Las Vegas quite often, let me share with you what I have experienced.
If the pool is important to you, without question stay at Mandalay Bay. The temperature in Las Vegas can get up to 116 degrees in the summer. The pool at M-Bay has misters to keep the temperature actually enjoyable. The pool at the Belagio is not nearly as beautiful as the one at M-Bay either. Other than that, the hotels are equal. Both are beautiful and elegant. Stay at Mandalay Bay.
I will see you there August 6 and 7...

Mandalay Bay!!!! The pools were
great and they have shaded areas and
misters to cool you off...but there
is always a breeze coming off the
desert so if you are wet you are
actually cool..The wave pool was fun
and the water was always cool. The
Grill was a very good place to eat
and the buffet was good also. The
Bellagio was beautiful and closer to
the strip but there are trams that
go from the Mandalay Bay to Luxor
and Excalibur then cross over to New
York New York (good slots) and take
tram to Bellagio. The new Venetian
was beautiful but they need to work
the kinks out yet I understand there
was no air condidtioning in some
rooms and no air in the elevators.
Have fun and see "O".

For what it's worth, we stayed @ the Mandelay Bay 2 weeks ago for 1 night. We woke up in the morning hating it so much we checked out & went to the Rio. Service is very very bad in every aspect of this hotel. This is not 1 area that doesn't fall very short. If you are sitting in the bar, 3 feet from the bar, cocktail waitress comes, takes order -- it will still take 20 min to get it. Forget valet parking. Check in.... no one really seems to know what they are doing.
And the room decor!!! You can do much better elsewhere. Seen the Venetian with some people who were staying @ the Belagio and they said it was MUCH nicer (in the rooms).
Personally I prefer the Rio over all for atmosphere. And nice pool area.
Worst mistake! Stopped at NY NY -- what a zoo! the worst -- My guy said "ok so what part of the hotel do we go to get mugged?" Truly a bad experience.

My husband and I stayed at Treasure Island last Dec. and found that we spent most of our time on the other end
(by the airport) where the Bellagio, Monte Carlo, New York/New York, etc. are. Mandelay Bay was not permitted to open until they did something about their sinking problem. Seems the builder thought he didn't have to anchor to the bedrock and the hotel sunk 16 inches. Even 1 inch is supposedly serious. We got this info from the guy giving the tour at Hoover Dam. I stayed at the Monte Carlo shortly after they opened and while it is beautiful on the outside, they didn't have much to offer on the inside, in my opinion. The Venetian wasn't open yet when I was last out there, but I'd like to try it or the Bellagio, personally.

Tina - apparantly money is no object since you've listed two of the most expensive hotels on the strip, so the Monte Carlo would be third in that area as they have decent rates for a beautiful hotel/casino. Bellagio far outweighs Mandalay in elegance, service, dining, and entertainment and the new Venetian will top all of them when it is done.
