DISNEY in summer or winter??

Our family (kids 7 and 8) are debating going to Disneyland or Disney World during the school Christmas break or the summer holidays. Which time and place is best as far as line-ups, weather, prices of everything, hotels in the winter and camping accomodations in the summer? Thanks for your time and have a good week.

We have been to Disney World with our four kids around 7 times. We usually go in the summer, and if you can stand the heat, it's a good time to go. There are usually great rates at the hotels (we've stayed at quite a few, if you need names, let me know). The lines are long, but you need to pace yourselves and stay away from the attractions between 11:30-1ish. Go for lunch, or go to your pool, or go to the water park. We also went during Spring Break 2 years ago, and it was terribly crowded. Lines for everything, including the bathrooms and water fountains. The better attractions had waits of at least 45 minutes. The hotel rates are higher at that time also. If you have a car, take a ride to the beach to get away from the excitement of Orlando. Cocoa Beach is less than 1 hour away, and if you really want to see a nice beach, take a ride to Treasure Island (near St. Pete's) which is about 2 hours away on the West Coast. If you need anymore help or suggestions, let me know. You will have a great time at Disney. Enjoy

We went to Disney in Florida this past summer and had a great time. All the complaints about long lineups and hot humid weather didn't happen. It was hot, but it was Florida. We never felt like we just couldn't go on! The lineups were quite reasonable 15 - 45 minutes depending on the ride.Tower of terror was usually 45 minutes. We stayed at the Carribean Beach Resort for 6 nights and outside at the Best Western Eastgate for 3. I wouldn't go back to Disney unless I could stay inside at one of the resorts. The Carribean is one of the mid resorts and it was EXCELLENT. The kids (ages 8 and 11) felt right at home and very SAFE! We would get up early in the morning and go to one of the parks (on Disney Transportation) never having to drive our own car anywhere was great! At lunch we would head back to the hotel for a bite and a swim or rest, and then head back to the parks around dinner when everyone was going to eat. This worked out best for the heat in the middle of the day. Best place to eat. Chef Mickeys in the Contemporary Resort. A great deal for an all you can eat buffet with LOTS of characters. Even my 11 year old got into the spirit. If you have any other questions, please email. Have fun in Disney!

We went in the summer with three kids, and it worked out great. We went to the park in morning and then went to our resort and stayed their for the afternoon for swimming. We went back to Disney in evening.. The kids had a great time.. Lines were not that bad at all.. We would do it again.

HI- Unfortunately you are picking two of the most crowded times during the year. I think the lesser of the two evils is to go during the summer. We went this past summer and the crowds weren't too bad. We have also gone during the month of October and it was almost deserted....no wait for anything!I know it is so hard with the kids in school, but if you can swing it try to go during the off peak, you will see so much more..instead of just waiting on lines. Also, staying in the park is an excellent idea. E-mail me if you would like for additional info. Have a great day!
