Cooperstown, NY
Would like to take a trip to Cooperstown to see the Baseball Hall of Fame. Can anyone recommend other things to see in that part of New York state? I've only been to Niagara Falls and NYC, so I don't know what is in the middle *smile*.
Thanks for any and all leads!

Theres a nice resort (Otseaga)I think thats the spelling. It has a great golf course. There are at least two other museums in Cooperstown worth a view. The Farmers museum and the James Fenimore Cooper Museum. Which way are you coming from as that would be helpful in making other suggestions

A spot in south-central New York that is not to be missed is the Corning Museum of Glass. I've heard that it's not the third most visited tourist stop in New York state. Another stop might be the International Museum of Ceramics in Alfred, about an hour to the west of Corning. Still another interesting site is the Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport. And by all means, be sure to visit the many wineries in the area.

Cooperstown is a beautiful, charming town with three excellent museums; Baseball Hall of Fame, the James Fenimoore Cooper House, and the Farmers Museum. You can buy one pass for all three. Nearby Howe Caverns, an underground caves system with a subterranean lake was pretty neat. Also Saratoga Springs, charming and sophisticated town, a lot of fun, specially during August due to horse racetrack season. Be advised that July 23rd is the next Hall of Fame induction ceremony and it should be pretty crowded. Tons of lakes and natural trails and parks such as Lake George, Saratoga Lake, etc... Tons of Revolutionary War related sites like Saratoga Battlefield, Fort Ticonderoga, Fort William Henry, etc...You can get on I87 and onto Route 9W and visit all the great Hudson River Mansions such as Olana (Frederick Church's), Vanderbilt's, Roosevelt's Hyde Park, Eleanor Roosevelt's ValKill, etc....West Point Academy, there is just so much to this beautiful region.
