Hi all, I am planning on a Las Vegas 5 night trip soon. I am not stuck on these 3 props, but they seem to be a good fit price and value wise: The Linq, Luxor, Monte Carlo.
Price difference between them is just $20. MC seems to be the least popular, Luxor is the oldest, Linq is newest.
I could go with Excalibur, Trop or Harrah's too, but just want to give the pyramid a try as I prefer the ends of The Strip rather than middle.
Any advice appreciated.

We've stayed at the Luxor and liked that the parking, behind the pyramid was an easy in/out of the room and you didn't have to go through the casino. Some rooms were a bit tired, others were newly redone.

Disadvantage is that it is a long walk down to see the fountains at the Belagio..

Monte Carlo has a more convenient location. You say you like the ends of the Strip, but all the happening stuff nowadays is in the Center. But I think the rooms are better at Excalibur, and it has a great spa.

I haven't stayed at a strip hotel in years. For location I would take the MC. I can't speak to the other hotels because it's been a long time so any info I have would not be current.

Unless it has totally reinvented itself, I would scratch Excalibur off the list. I don't know anything about the LINQ. Between Monte Carlo and Luxor - they are pretty similar quality-wise. I don't think one is significantly better than the other. I would pick based on which "theme" is more appealing to you.

I'm lukewarm on any of the properties you list, frankly; none of them is especially a great Vegas resort.

LINQ is the old Imperial Palace, and in spite of its great location-- dead Center-Strip-- it's still downmarket in comparison to other properties you could choose.

Luxor's south-end-of-Strip location just doesn't work for me, but you seem to like the outer reaches of the Strip. But it isn't like the resort itself is so outstanding that it overcomes the far-flung location; it's cheap and clean, but pretty middle-of-the-pack in amenities and luxury. I'd spend more money and stay at Mandalay Bay in the same general area.

Monte Carlo is thoroughly mid-market and the rooms need a facelift, but the location puts you closer to the Action. Of the three, I'd go for that one.

However, all things considered, I'd be looking at other properties. At the lower price points, I'd prefer the MGM Grand (despite the size and smoky casino), Planet Hollywood and Paris (although again, the rooms need to be freshened up). Harrah's is next door to the LINQ; the price is good but the whole place has this trashy, low-class vibe to it that turns me off (it's easily one of the worst Caesar's properties in Vegas).

Watch out for the resort fees; they can turn a "sweet deal" into a "WHAT THE...?!?" at check-out...!
