Chicago to Omaha

We are traveling to the college world series games in Omaha next week. Dad's are taking the boys and mom's wanted to take two or three days and relax somewhere between Chicago and Omaha.

I have seen posts regarding Lake Okoboji. First, are there any nice resorts there, how far is this area from Omaha.

Secondly, are there any other lake resort towns in Iowa? If so, any nice resorts you can recommend.

I saw Hotel Pattee which looks very nice but what is there to do for possibly two days?

I looked into Amana Colonies but that really doesn't look that interesting. and we aren't in to outlet malls.

Basically looking for a resort town to do some lite shopping, good food, cocktails and relax with the girls.

Thanks for any suggestions.

What about Galina, IL? Right on the IA/IL border.

Lake Okoboji would be several hours out of your way. It's about 3 1/2 hours to Omaha from Okoboji.

You are right about the Amana Colonies - very boring.

Sorry - no suggestions.
