Carmel

What recommendations are there for restaurants and activities in Carmel? We are going in October. I definitely enjoy good food and wine. Does anyone know anything about the Briarwood Inn?

My favorite restaurant is Patisserrie Boissiere. Order the French onion soup.It is a very romantic place.Another can't miss is the Tuck Box for tea or breakfast.
You might want to consider venturing a little further into Montery and Pacific Grove. It's really not that far and you will find that there are some great places there also. Have a great trip!

I was in Carmel last April and stayed at the Highlands Inn. The view from the Pacific's Edge Restaurant at sunset is breathtaking. If you don't want to pay those prices for dinner, visit the Sunset Lounge next door, then eat at California Market.

If you like beef (and sizable portions), I also recommend Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch.

My favorite place that I have ever stayed is the Tickle Pink Inn which is right next to Pacifics Edge restaurant. Every room has a balcony and view of the Pacific. Very romantic. Wine and cheese in the pm, lovely breakfast overlooking the ocean
included.

The recommendation for Pacific Grove and not Carmel is outstanding. We live in Pacific Grove. It has better coast line views than Carmel but only the locals seem to know that. It has great Victorian B and B's with views of Monterey Bay.....Yellow Gables and Green Gables plus more. It is only about 15 minutes on the other side of the peninsula from Carmel and many visitors never even see the great little downtown or beautiful views. They go to Carmel that is about 50 per cent vacant homes because the owners live outside of the area.

Great restaurant in PG is the Fishwife on Hwy 68.
