Can you- put a vacation on Layaway?

Help... We are in desperate need of a vacation. Looking to go this fall, maybe September or October. Does Disneyworld have a payment option for a WDW vacation? (2 adults going) Example, book your vacation and pay before and after you return on monthly installments. Kind of like using a credit card? I know this is a wacky dumb question, but heh, like my granny always says, no question is a DUMB question )
Thanks....

How would that be different than just charging it- Isn't that the good old American way?

Can you set up a vacation fund account at your bank? Put $x amount in every week/month until the trip. Search around for a local bank/credit union that will allow you to start an account with a small deposit. Have the money taken out of your paycheck so you don't forget to pay yourself.

If the resort did have a payment plan, I wouldn't imagine they'd give you a much better interest rate than your bank or credit card (assuming you have a reasonable rate on your card(s)).

I know some of the tour companies like Apple, FunJet etc. now have payment plans. Another option, get a big jar and start throwing all your change in it. You will be amazed at how much you amass in a short period of time. Another thought, have a garage or yard sale to earn extra cash and clean out unwanted stuff.

Thanks for all the great advice.
I prefer not to use the charge cards but do a payment plan with a tour company. Maybe I can check funjet or Apple. Is the interest that high for these types of vacations? I thought someone may know of a Disney company that may have this as an option for WDW packages? I don't think AAA offers this type of option?

I'm surprised no one actually answered your question. Yes, you can reserve your Disney vacation now and pay later -but you have to pay before your trip. Go to www.disney.com and pick Disney World or Disney Land and go through all the stuff for reserving your vacation. You can even add in air if you want/need to. Then at the end, when you are ready to confirm your reservation, you put in your credit card # and give them a $200 deposit. That's what it usually is as far as I've seen, although if it's a Disney cruise I think the deposit will be a lot more.

Anyway, then it tells you when you have to have your final payment in by. I don't think you have to pay a set amount at any given time, just have to pay the balance like two months before your trip.

But it's really cheaper to do Disney without staying in their hotels and it doesn't have to cost THAT much if you drive down, pick a moderately priced hotel maybe with a continental breakfast and your big expense will be your park hopper passes.

I think it would be too late to do it on the website for September or October - I mean the full payment would be pretty much due already.

But if you could reserve a hotel room for a few nights (someplace like Holiday Inn Express or Comfort Suites lets you reserve it and they don't charge your credit card until you are actually there - so you can give them the number now - and debit cards work too - and it won't be charged yet). Then save money until then for gas/hotel/Disney World tickets/food. Shouldn't be so bad for two people.

Your question is not dumb at all. I know of several travel agencies who take cash payments over time. My main concern with your request is the short amount of time before you plan to travel. I've done this several times with cruise vacations that I've put together with the help of a travel agent. Those interested are given approximately one year to pay for the trip. A payment plan is set up for those wishing to pay by check or credit card. No problems were ever reported. I would suggest that you visit a local travel agent and see if they can assist you. Most agents want the final payment 30-45 days before your departure. Good Luck.

Pleasant Holidays does tours to Hawaii, mexico, and South Pacific with an installment plan - 18 mos at 19.8% interest.
Princess cruises has 4 year love boat loans with 14.99% to 26.99% interest.

Carnival has a Fun Finance Plan- for $14 per month for 24 months you can buy a LA-Mexico cruise. They may have others.

Whatever happened to living within your means. If you don't have the money for a vacation, then you should take a pass this year. Try to be more frugal next year, save, and maybe you can do it next year.

Just asking the question doesn't mean you can't afford it. Some people do live within there means and pay for things before rather than using a credit card and paying afterwards. Give Desperate a break.

You could always go to the bank and take out a loan.
