Bug factor in Keys this weekend?

We will be in the Keys this weekend and I was wondering what the bug situation is like this time of year...I keep hearing about the dreaded "no-see-ums" and other pests but am unsure if these things are seasonal. Should we pack repellant? If so, any good recommendations for one?

Thanks!

Well I am not in Florida at the moment but was born and raised there for 18 years of my life.
Bugs are usually pests in South Florida! Especially Mosquito's. With the aweful diseases they are spreading these days I'd definetly reccomend repellent! Avon Skin So Soft is great for this but may attract bees (not 100% sure on that!)
Bugs are especially prevalent when it has recently rained!
Hope this helps

Don't know about the Keys, but we live on the water in Tampa and we had them a couple of evenings last week. Weather is nice....just the way they like it. Not too hot, not too cold.

Here in Key Largo the mosquitos have begun to show themselves after dark, as usual a little worse if you are near large areas of dense foliage. Nothing to really worry about during the day, or even sitting outside at night at most restuarant locations. I have not noticed any no-see-ums in my area yet. However, if you are the type of person who really is sensitive to bug bites, you might as well pack some repellant. The best repellants contain the chemical DEET and is found in the brand names "OFF" and "Cutter". Other gentler on the skin potions like Skin-So-Soft and various natural products have been proven to be less effective, but given that there may not be too many bugs around this weekend, may work for you. Hope this helps.
