Concert on Capital Steps Memorial Day - Tips
We're arriving Sunday of Memorial Day into DC - crowds, busy etc etc I know.
Looks like there is a concert on Capital Steps on Sunday.
Any thoughts?
What Metro stop? How early to get there? Security that you have to work through (long lines etc?).... Lawn Chairs?

You may bring in lawn chairs and food (no alcohol) if you like. It's nice to have a picnic before the concert begins.
I have never found the security lines to be that bad. They have lots of people working and they get you onto the grounds pretty quickly.

The PBS link above states "The Capitol South Metro station will be closed on May 29th."
However, on other websites I've seen that the concert is scheduled for May 27th.
Is that just a typo? I'm wondering because we have a Capitol tour on the morning of the 29th and if that metro station is closed I'll have to reroute how we're getting there.
I looked at the WMATA site and I couldn't find anything about any station closures over the Memorial Day weekend.

I'll bet you dollars to donuts that the PBS website was just updated from last year's website and they failed to update the date of the Capitol South Metro station closing. Last year, the concert was on May 29th, so the station would have been closed that day. This year, the concert is on May 27th.
I don't think you need to worry about Capitol South being closed on Tuesday, May 29th, 2012.

Check www.wmata.com next week for an announcement re Memorial Day weekend trackwork and other closings. Should be on the right side (on a standard computer, not mobile phone) under "News"

Thanks, that was what I was thinking (and hoping).
