Two feet of snow on the ground as we left Manhattan yesterday. The commute home was tough since Metro North was only running every 2 hours. I thought I had a "brainstorm" idea as we left the hotel and that was to walk through the tunnel to GC on Madison and 47th, but it was closed! We missed the 1:25 by a couple of minutes...ugh.

I didn't enjoy slepping my suitcase through the snow and slush -- I think now I have been forever cured of my overpacking problem, lol.

Although my school district operated this morning on a two-hour delay ( we have no busing), the one I work in, is closed! WooooHoooo! :D

We are in the similar mode as BuffaloGirl in Chicago. We were used to getting socked and now the last few years, our snowmobiles etc. are lawn ornaments as well.

We did get a light dusting that made everything very beautiful and coated again. But it thaws out in just a few days.

Do take a snow day and have some fun while it's there. Teach your kids some snow hut building techniques. If you get a good sized one up, it will last for weeks regardless of higher temps.

Had 25+ over for a BBQ last night in my suburban Buffalo home (this is what yu do when you live in a snowy city-summer in Feruayr celebrations). Hot dogs, burgers, potato salad, lemonade, etc. We always get calls from our friends and relatives all over the east coast (well, all over the country for that matter) when we make it on the news for our weather. Although we were all tempted, we did not call and tease our friends and relatives. Actually, all of our kids are jealous thinking they are in school today when many have snow days! Admire the beauty of mother nature and be sure to have food and wine around.

Like St. Louis here in Springfield only flurries...but not so in Cambridge and Amesbury where family live. Lots of snow for sure which we could use.

But then again, we have fire in the hills. There is a mystical balance in nature....

My friends' flight to LAX was delayed over 4 hours today at JFK.

I just moved to Florida from Pittsburgh and I don't miss the snow what-so-ever! We had about 36 degrees and I thought that was nothing...there were people with winter coats, gloves, scarves and boots!!! I couldn't believe it!

dgib, just wait ;-) You'll acclimate, too. We moved to S. TX from Maryland 16+ years ago and it's gotten to the point where 60 degress feels cold!

This South Carolina girl was in Philly all weekend (Chesnut Hill) to the turn of almost 18 inches of snow or other such mess?

Anyway, through a turn of sheer luck, I ended up with a 4WD SUV (who knew they are all 4WD up there? Ours are not) and was able to get to the airport Sunday and fly out. My USAir flight was on time however it was the incoming Paris flight.
