Visiting Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket is on my list of things I want to do at least once. However, since the list is getting long and I may never get there again, can you recommend the best time of year to visit for a week or two? By best I'm looking for the prettiest weather and most amount of things to do. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well, the season there doesn't really start until after July 4. Anytime after that until Labor Day is great. It is crowded all summer. I would strongly suggest you not try to take you car since getting a car reservation on the ferry is next to impossible.

Actually, just after Labor is better. The weather is still great but the excessive crowds are gone. The beaches will be freer, the shopping manageable and the waits at restaurants more in line with what you're used to. Rates might be a little lower and everything will be open.

Agree that September (anytime after the first week) is great. Also like June 10 to 20, just before the crowds rush in.
