Best Men's Snow Boots for NYC and where to purchase

Opinions please on the best brand men's boots for NYC for snow/slush/cold etc. Any recommendations on where to purchase.

A search came up with Zappos. Do they have stores in NYC. Another store name was Bob's. I could not find a website for this.

Thanks for any input.

Sandy

Maine Hunting Boot -- L.L. Bean

Not in NYC, but you asked for the best.

If you must purchase in NYC, then go to Harry's on Broadway.

What about David Z? They carry many lug-soled styles, and some are advertised as waterproof. I got my waterproof hush puppy snowboots there.

David Z has locations all over Manhattan. There are two on Broadway in Soho, and one on 6th Avenue around 21st St.

Another vote for LL Bean.

PS. In case someone suggests Uggs or Emu's, they aren't snow boots.

I have boots from L. L. Bean and also a fabulous pair of Uggs. The Uggs are WAY more comfortable. Unless you can't avoid stepping into deep slushy puddles, they ARE definitely snow boots. I live in New Hampshire and always wear mine when it snows.

Uggs were originally designed by surfers to keep their feet warm after getting out of the cold surf. I have a pair and would never wear mine in the snow. I also have a pair of Ugg flip flops.

I have found that my feet are always cold in Bean duck boots, and they don't get very good traction on the ice that frequently coats the sidewalks in NYC in the winter. I just wear my hiking boots and think they do better that duck boots.

Ditto: duck boots stink in really cold, icy weather.

My wife wore Uggs in Aspen when they had 18 inches of fresh snow. No problem. Great traction. True: they aren't water proof.

Good hiking boots would offer the best traction. And get a pair that has Gore-Tex. And wear really thick wool socks.

If you want real winter snow boots for very cold weather, get a pair of Sorels or Kamiks. These are leather and rubber, felt lined pak boots with a heavy winter tread, good to about -30!
