Beachfront Condo with Snorkeling in Maui??

Help!! We've stayed at the Rennaisance & loved snorkeling off the beach there. This time we are open to other areas in Maui, but in a condo, preferably beachfront & snorkeling off the beach. Any suggestions?? Looking at the last 2 weeks in April! Thanks Alot!!

The Kaanapali Ali'i is right on the beach and just down from Black Rock which has good snorkeling.

Hi - The Alii is very nice - stayed there in 2000. Beach in front is not good for snorkeling. Waves can get quite large - would not swim there with kids.
Another option is the Whaler. Not as fancy as the Alii but prices are a little less. The Whaler is right next to the Sheraton at Blackrock. (Actually the Kaanapali Hotel is in between the Sheraton and Whaler.) Blackrock is in front of the Sheraton. Blackrock is where everyone on this stretch of Kaanp. beach from the Sheraton to the Hyatt come to snorkel. Turtles, coral, lots of fish. The Alii is about a mile walk to Blackrock - nice walk, but- the Whaler is just steps away from the beach at Blackrock. Just depends if you want to be really close to snorkeling. The Alii does have Cabanas. The Whaler does not.

Try Kapalua Villas. Be sure to ask for oceanfront. We were on a cliff, oceanside, and the beach is just a little rock walk down below. Also, you can walk (2 minutes) along the ocean and get to Kapalua bay beach, which is amazing for snorkling. We saw turtles off our beach all the time, and the mixture of fish/eels was amazing. Another tip: When you stay at the Villas, you get to use the Ritz Carlton pool for free, and it is beyond amazing!!! If I can get a hold of our unit #, I will post another message.

The Alii is only two properties farther from Black Rock than the Whaler. The Westin is in betwen them.

It is less than a five minute walk from the Whaler to Black Rock and the Alii is only about two minutes more. It takes an average peson about twelve to fifteen minutes to walk a mile.

I think RG is closer to the mark.
It is almost exactly 1 mile round trip or 1/2 mile each way from Sheraton at Blackrock to the Kan. Alii. The think that Nova must be looking at a map - remember that Whaler Village is between the Kan. Alii and the Westin. They are not right next to each other. It is about a 10 - 15 min stroll each way.

Opps I meant that Whalers Village is in between the Westin and the Whaler.

Check this web site for an aerial photo of the Kaanapali area.

http://www.kaanapaliresort.com/accommodations.html

It is less about two thirds of a mile from the Hyatt to Black Rock in front of the Sheraton. I know that for a fact because I run an eight minute mile and it takes less than eight minutes to run that distance. Therefore, if it is about one third of a mile from the Alii to Black Rock (about a five minute walk one way).

We've stayed at Noelani, up towards Kahana, and people snorkle right out front of it. There isn't a beach tho' - well a tiny sandy area "beachlet" you can use as a launching pad. Next place north (about half a mile) is Sands of Kahana which does have a beach.
